In Eckankar we sing or chant a word, Hu which we consider to be a sacred
word for God. It is pronounced as in "hugh" but drawn out. When we
sing Hu we fill ourselves with the love of God and allow the Eck or Holy
Spirit to flow through us.

On the Internet we have a cyber version of the Hu Song. To join this
song reply to the group with this message. Just relax, place your
fingers on the H and U keys. Close your eyes and place your attention
on God, the Mahanta or any figure who has spiritual significance to you.
Then press the keys, H UUUUUUUUUUU as you sing out the word. Try this
three times with a pause of three breaths in between. After you are
done, just click on SEND.

In ECK,

Steve

Lurk,
In this belief system it is one way the holders of this belief attempt to clear
out all those they consider hold "negative" vibes and "call" in the "masters"
they believe in to assist this. All this is done without expectations. :o)
Many chat rooms are prepared this way and as you know all seminars, satsangs
and other meeting of eckists. :o)
The detractors should disappear shortly or have hellish karma to deal with that
will enable members to give out the information they see fit for newcomers to
receive on a.r.e. without distractions. ;oD

As you can plainly see, TuzaTravlr and arelurker have no respect whatsoever for the
spiritual beliefs and practices of others.

Just helping out with an explaination of these beliefs. It really does not
matter what these beliefs are that many lable as "spiritual" or "truth".
Having been around this belief system many years, I do not think my explanation
of this hu chant online or offline was too far off.
Eckists have accepted the belief of "positive and negative" so strongly they no
longer see it as only a belief. Of course it helps form their reality as all
beliefs do. It is like becoming so involved in the play, the props and the
stage, that it appears it is a universal play to many, rather than an idividual
play formed by one's own beliefs.
I do not think I stated anything outside of the common beliefs about hu. If it
works for you great. :o) This does not mean this is everyone's reality. :o)

I agree Ttravlr. It looks as tough Steve and Nathan use the Hu chant
here to ward off the evil spirits, to exorcise the newsgroup of
negativity so their positive outlooks won't be disrupted. In other
words, to bury their heads in the sand, which is why I made the comment.

I think they disgrace their ritualistic hu chant by spitting it at
people here.

There is only honor and joy to sing the HU, a love song to God on an ECKANKAR
newsgroup . Singing the HU is not about those who have other beliefs; those that
would probably be better served to share their beliefs on other newsgroups for
that purpose.

"When one sings HU, a special name for God, he agrees to let Spirit do what is
best for him." Sri Harold Klemp/Soul Travelers of the Far Country/ECKANKAR '87

First of all it is not "ritualistic." To my way of thinking,
ritualistic denotes mind - the grooves of habit. The HU is chanted as
a love song to God. You have no way of knowing what the intention of
the chanter is.

"Bury their heads in the sand?" Hardly, for me the HU chant is an act
of lifting my head high, opening my eyes wide and throwing open the
doors of my heart.

I proclaim my love to spirit, the Eck, and gently ask for its
guidance, help and love . . .

Kind of a ritual in eckankar, eh?

Good for you, Bill. I actually liked the hu chants especially when 4000
people were doing it in a seminars. Sounded nice. My comments were
directed at Nathan and Steve who were responding with Hu's to some
poster's negative comments about eckankar. I though it was kind of a
disgrace to the hu mantra to use it in this fashion.

This is nonsense. This thread started with a HU Song - nothing else.
Arelurker and Ram3Ram interjected their negative comments. It has nothing to
do with them.

Jeez, you're wrong again Steve!

Go back through this entire thread, and see if you can find ANY post from me
that belittles "eckankar's <g> hu."
