It's the 1960's, and the world's most enligtened being tries to keep
up. He declares "Eckankar is the only path to God. If you don't follow
my religion you will stay in the Astral hells!"
It's the 1970's and much of America is moving on. Religious leaders
denounce fundamentalism, "To claim one's religion as the only way to
God is pompous, self-righteous, and infantile."
It's the 1980's, and the world's most enligtened being tries to keep
up. He announces, "We don't say Eckankar is the ONLY way to God, just
that it is the FASTEST way to God. We won't try to hold you through
threats of hell (at least we won't admit it in public)." Some Eckankar
devotees begin to deny that Eckankar ever held fundamentalist
doctrines. Some others tacitly admit it, but say it is outdated
Eckankar theology.
It's the 21st century. Religious leaders point out that the idea of
"my religion is faster than your religion" is adolescent
grandstanding.
It's the 2020's, and the most enlightened being on the planet is
trying to keep up. He declares, "We don't say Eckankar is the FASTEST
path to God, we just say it is the FUNNEST path to God." Some Eckankar
devotees begin to deny that Eckankar ever held adolescent doctrines of
"my path is faster than your path." Some other Eckists admit it, but
point out that such beliefs are out of date. They point out that their
leader, the most enlightened being on the planet, is leading the human
race into higher states of consciousness.
A few Eckankar critics produce historical records and show that the
position of Eckankar keeps shifting with the sands of public opinion.
They are roundly criticized by Eckankar devotees as distorting the
truth, making up false history, and generally just being nasty people.

It's the 21st century and the detractors of Eckankar are still bemoaning
from twenty years ago back to the '50's.
It's the 22nd century and dispite the message of about a hundred current
ECK Masters, the detractors of Eckankar are still bemoaning from a
hundred years ago back to the 1950's.

Discourses, SKS, Spiritual Notebook ...much of this is very current.
"THE WRATH OF THE ECK CRASHES DOWN upon anybody who is still a slave
to the ego and deserts the Master (of Eckankar)...Not once will he see
the
connection between his betrayal of the ECK and the HORRENDOUS TROUBLES
that strike him like a plague
on every hand. And thus, he goes downward on the spiral of awareness
until he leaves this body in hopeless despair, still wondering why the
fates
have treated him so cruelly."-- Harold Klemp, Satsang III, #8
Twitchell's quotes:
"Whosoever...shall divulge the secrets of his initiation...shall be
deprived of his sight and tongue in order to never say anything about
the degrees of initiation in ECKANKAR"
-- SKS Book 2, pages 177-178, 2nd edition, 10th printing, 1988
"But once the chela [member of Eckankar] has become a member of the
inner circle, HE CANNOT RESIGN...Those few have found that spiritual
decay sets in immediately, affecting the health, material life and
spiritual life, and BRINGS DEATH MORE SWIFTLY."
-- SKS Book 2, page 197, (page 166 in older editions)
"It also means that anyone who opposes the Mahanta (Twitchell) in any
of the worlds is foolish for the ECK (Holy Spirit) will swiftly work
in
retribution" --
SKS Book 1, pages 214-215, 2nd edition, 10th printing, 1987
"To ridicule, to scorn, to speak mockingly of the words of the
Mahanta...is to bring woes on the advocator of doubt...and causes him
to SUFFER UNTOLD HARDSHIPS."-- SKS Book 1, page 107, 2nd edition, 10th
printing, 1987
Threats found in other books written by Paul Twitchell:
"Some persons are apt to talk negatively or criticize ECK without
thinking. They should know that to criticize or talk negatively about
the ECK or the Master, or to hold any overt or covert negative
attitude toward either, WILL BRING SWIFT REPRISAL. When anyone sends
out such vibrations, they cannot do any harm because the Master is
always shielded in a protective coat of light. The vibrations will
return to the sender, and he receives the full blast of his own
actions."
-- From "ECKANKAR Presents: THE MANU SAMHITA The Code of Ethics"
"The chela (member of Eckankar) cannot think ill of the spiritual
works of ECK,
nor can he criticize the Living ECK Master at any time. If he does,
his spiritual progress will be halted and he may suffer losses in a
material way."
-- Eck Satsang Discourses, first series, page 60, Paul Twitchell
"This vegetable state, something with hardly any emotions or thinking
ability left, also occurs if one should have the initiation in
ECKANKAR and
break off to join another group, regardless of whether it is a
psychic, religious, or philosophical organization."
-- The Eck Satsang Discourses, Third Series, Page 1 & 2, 1971, 1995
"He who leaves the path of ECK, or refuses to follow it, will dwell in
the astral Hells until the Master takes mercy upon him".
--Paul Twitchell, "The Spiritual Notebook" page 221, 2nd edition, 1990

"A hundred current Eck Masters"? Gee, Rich, just imagine what I"d do
with that line If I were you.
You see, Eckankar didn't change. If H said "we don't say," he wasn't
being honest, and these quotes are the proof of that. That's a key
point to all of this -- eckankar doesn't really evolve, or correct
itself, it just takes the dissembling PR way.
To effect meaningful revisioni, Harold has to actually do a complete
revision, and condemn Twitchell's quotes -- and Harold's own quotes
above -- as unenlightened, wrong, and those other adjectives Siva ri
cites.
