"Show me thy ways, O *SUGMAD; Teach me thy path" is the first line of a
contemplation seed taught by an ECK master named LAI-TSI. He found it
within himself after returning from an inner level of heaven. It is a
sincere petition for divine wisdom.
Yet, if you or I made the same sincere petition, how could we expect to
get an answer? Those familiar with ECKANKAR know that divine guidance is
sometimes received through the golden tongued wisdom or waking dream. My
best definition of this phenomena is that the waking dream is a message
from divine spirit to soul through the conscious mind. That's a mouthful
so here is an example to help.
For several months now, I've been working on a dream workshop for
southern Wisconsin and was hoping for some clues on how to present
material to the participants. I made a sincere petition for help on the
inner.
Around the same time, my youngest son was having health problems that
weren't being solved by modern medicine. I brought him to a female
chiropractor even though I was a little skeptic of this form of healing.
The chiropractor was able to identify some problems and apply therapy. In
addition to her adjustments, she suggested that I turn my son over on his
stomach, head slightly tilted down and tap his back for several minutes to
help break up the congestion in his lungs. The idea seemed ridiculous, but
I tried it at home. As you might expect, it didn't work.
The real lesson occurred on our next visit. She noticed the same
congestion and she turned him over. She tapped his back for several
minutes and to my surprise, he started coughing up mucus. I immediately
saw the value of the technique, but more importantly, I recognized the
golden tongued wisdom that "seeing is believing."I knew the phrase
mentally, but this experience allowed me to know it in my being.
I applied this lesson to the dream workshop. I used an overhead
projector to show actual notes and techniques that I used to help solve
my dream symbols. The information became grounded when the participants
"saw" the methods used and the reasons why. You could actually see the
understanding in their faces.
The above example describes how divine spirit sent a message and soul
became aware of it through the conscious mind. I had to ask, I had to
recognize and I had to apply.
In The Book of ECK Parables Vol.4, SRI Harold Klemp writes "Most
people overlook the ways Holy Spirit speaks to us. It's not that the ways
are too humble. It's that the people are to proud too listen. Divine
Spirit speaks to us through its creatures and through nature. It shows us
how the Law of God can work if we have the spiritual understanding to see
it."
It wasn't just a coincidence. Its just that the ways of the Holy
Spirit are very subtle. I had asked to be shown the way and divine spirit,
with love, had gently given it to me.

Mike Bell

Thanks for a positive story Mike.

LAI-TSI was not a member of eckankar. Eckankar was established in 1965 by
Paul Twitchell who utilized other spiritual teachers words in an effort to
lend credibility to his writings. LAI-TSI couldn't have used the word
"Sugmad" as he was oriental.

You've been twitched!

PS: Ever wonder why the eckist wirite eck words in caps? Is it because of
the copyrights?

Actually David... Sugmad is derived from an ancient Chinese Name, and most
certainly known to Lai Tsi. Anyone up on their Chinese?

Sugmad, by report, is also known as a name for God by the Ancient
Indigenous Japanese Cultures, and also used as a Name of God by the Hopi.

The nonsense about copyright is of course barely worth of note. Barely
makes me twitch at all, in fact! : ) Maybe you will do better next time
Mr Cullen. : ) : ) : )

Yours (Or was it someone elses?)

Just called my friend in Phoenix, he is from mainland China, his name is
Xiaojun, and ask him if he ever heard of name of God, Sugmad. He said
no. He has a deep interest in philosophy so I thought he should know.

Don't know anyone from Japan except a few friends in Seattle. But have
many Hopi friends. Not far from their reservation in fact. They have
never heard of the name Sugmad.

Where do you get your facts?

Hey! Throw enough ca-ca against the wall and some of it is bound to stick,
eh?

Ok.

All Chineese walk in single file.

At least the one I saw did. ;-)

"Show me thy ways, O *Lord*;
Is the third or fourth line of the 25th Psalm. David found it within
himself while singing from the heart to the God of his understanding.
This was plagiarized, <- notice the correct spelling, and put into yet
another plagiarized segment of the story about Lai-Tsi.
The story itself has subliminal implications, "It's a Lie-See?" Get it?
