Is ECKANKAR honest with you?

Check out ECKANKAR's official website:
http://www.eckankar.org

This official ECKANKAR website is promoted daily by Eckists of this
newsgroup. There you'll find a partial account of Eckankar's
teachings, history, and promotional material about why you should
become a member of ECKANKAR.

But what's the rest of the story?

Do a little open research on ECKANKAR -- before you invest $130 to
become a member.

Important research on Eckankar's history, including the online book
ECKANKAR, THE MAKING OF A SPIRITUAL MOVEMENT:

A key aspect of Membership in Eckankar is access to specially written
"ECK Discourses" that are off-limits to non-Eckankar members. Here
you can read key excerpts from these ECK Discourses:

plagiarism of the works of many different authors. Visit the Rich

The Light and Sound opens the doorway of love. Love is the doorway to spiritual
freedom. Before you can realize the gift of spiritual freedom, you must go
through that doorway and have the love of God transform your life.

These links are not about Eckankar's history.
They are just some poor research and a copy of David Lane's expose'

Actually this link is a way too long collection of incorrect assertions
weakly attempting to prove that Eckankar is destructive, intolerant,
insulting, negative, fear inducing, dangerous and other nonsense by,
as anyone can see, shamelessly 'setting up' quotes out of context.

David Lane again trying to make himself look like a winner by always
giving himself the last word.

Doug's most recent responses to David Lane:

What, you might ask, possesses someone to fanatically repost this
misinformation day after day? Maybe he's paid? Maybe he's sick?
Most certainly the answers can be found somewhere in this:
http://groups.google.com/groups?safe=off&selm=3A2802BC.3EDD%40aloha.net

Reading the above link you can see the way things are purposfully
misrepresented on the internet. I'd say a more reasonable way to
get info on the religion of Eckankar is to _not_ rely on those
attacking Eckankar on the internet. Anyone can say anything on the
internet and reading pro material or derogatory material is not enough.
Read some Eckankar books.

Attend some Eckankar activities and meet some Eckists in person.

http://www.eckankar.org/ekcenters.html
http://www.eckankar.org/Seminars/regional.html

Then trust your own judgement and heart, and compare that to what you
may find on the internet. See if the two actually coincide.

A Love Song to God

You have the potential for greater happiness, love and understanding. Singing
HU can bring these to you--through the Light and Sound of God.

Throughout the ages, followers of many spiritual traditions have used prayer,
the singing of holy words, and meditation to bring themselves closer to God. In
the same way, those who have discovered HU, an ancient name for God, sing it
for their spiritual upliftment.

Regardless of your beliefs or religion, you can sing HU to become happier and
more secure in God's love.

JAN:
Not true.

$130 is the suggested donation for a family per year, which is needed to cover
costs associated with the discourses and office staff, etc. Some who cannot
afford it, donate nothing.

See http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eckankartruth/files/
and read the "Cult Donations & Sales" article.

The 1 to 3 percent of your income suggested is *in addition to* the
membership "donation".

I guess your cult's "costs" are a lot higher than the costs of Yogananda's
Self-Realization Fellowship, which offers *good* mail-order lessons at a
much lower cost than eckankult's secret, holey, high-vibe discourses.
And, the SRF lessons don't carry warnings about how your spiritual growth
will stop if you dare let a non-member see them, and horrible things happen
to the heathen who reads them because of the power of the eckforce clashing
with non-member negativity. <ggg> You know...like what happened to that
jerk stationed in Japan with Klemp when he was a newbie eckie. <ggg>

It's so bizarre that detractors make up stuff like this that is so far
from the truth. Not only has this never been the case in Eckankar, but
no detractor has even tried slide this one in before.

Well, I guess it is beneficial, in that it demonstrates to those you
might give Sharon too much credibility, the extent to which she is
willing to go to misrepresent Eckankar.

Not made up, Rich. See http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eckankartruth/files

The file name is Cult Donations or something.

The words of cult president Peter Skelskey, and vice president at the time
Todd Cramer, except he left the cult, didn't he?

*You* are the one who misrepresents your cult, clergyboy!

LOL... The sweet sound of predictability from Missy Sharon.

No Rich YOU are the one who is wrong, because I have a URL that says something
... And even though I myself have stated publically that I was given free
membership upon request, I am wrong as well!! <G>

Hi Sharon:

It is with some misgivings that I write to you. But, if you
take the time to read what you have posted you will see that
the information is stated as a guideline not a suggested donation.

Secondly, this was in response to those who _asked_ for a
guideline when donating and was not to my knowledge sent out
to the general eck membership and most definitely is not
tied to membership.

Many people prefer to support their local eck centers and
local eck center activities.

Is ECKANKAR honest with you?

Check out ECKANKAR's official website:
http://www.eckankar.org

This official ECKANKAR website is promoted daily by Eckists of this

newsgroup. There you'll find one account of Eckankar's
teachings, history, and promotional material about why you should
become a member of ECKANKAR.

But what's the rest of the story on this religion?

Here are some links to open research on ECKANKAR, which
you may find useful reading before you invest yourself (and $130) in ECK

membership.

Important research on Eckankar's history, including the online book
ECKANKAR, THE MAKING OF A SPIRITUAL MOVEMENT:
http://www.geocities.com/eckcult/
and:
http://members.tripod.com/~andrea65/guru3.htm

A key aspect of Membership in Eckankar is access to specially written
"ECK Discourses" that are off-limits to non-Eckankar members. Here
you can read key excerpts from these ECK Discourses:
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/1756/eck.txt

Paul Twitchell, ECKANKAR's founder, is reknown for his wholesale
plagiarism of the works of many different authors. Visit the Rich
Smith Memorial Center for Twitchillian Plagiarism to see documentation
of Paul Twitchell's extensive plagiarism of copyright protected texts:

More than a few "High Initiates" have left ECKANKAR org. Here, one

You'll find nothing dishonest there.

Eckankar, as anyone who actually looks around the sight or speaks to
Eckists will see, does not proselytize.

There is no investing in Eckankar. Anyone can join and study. A donation
is suggested, but not required.

These links are not about Eckankar's history.

They are just some poor research and a copy of David Lane's expose'
which has been thoroughly debunked here:
http://www.littleknownpubs.com/DialogIntro.htm
Eckankar history is here: http://www.eckankar.org/history.html

Actually this link is a way too long collection of incorrect assertions

weakly attempting to prove that Eckankar is destructive, intolerant,
insulting, negative, fear inducing, dangerous and other nonsense by,
as anyone can see, shamelessly 'setting up' quotes out of context.

Eckankar does not respond to this kind of muckraking.

The Music of God ranges from the piercing, single note of a flute heard during
a dream or in contemplation, to a sort of electrical hum, to the music of a
thousand violins, even to mellow woodwinds. More familiar sounds include a
heavy wind, the buzzing of bees, the tinkling of bells, thunder, or the roar of
the sea. It may further come as the voice of the Inner Master.

The music I hear is the sound of the old zenith black and white televisions that
make a high pitch sound when you turn them on. The light I see are little blue
flickers/swirls sometimes without an opague backround and sometimes when viewing
them behind a smoky white glass. Does that count as seeing the light and sound?

Yep.... That is one common experience.

If you block your ears, the sound can become clearer, but the best thing to do
is to try and move into the sound current... You may well find yourself out of
the body if you can do this.

But, Len, I *did* take the time to read what I posted. I think everyone
can understand quite clearly what it's saying.

I thought it was a cute little touch that one testimonial from a member
mentioned how she *tithed* -- which is giving 10% of one's income.

Okay...would you like to explain the big differences between a "guideline"
and a "suggested donation"?

No, Len, this *was* sent out to the general membership. To *everyone*.
From MN.

I got *many* mailings like that...little form letters accompanied by
the "donation" form and a return envelope...over the years.

I never asked for any guidelines.

Whoops...no, around the time I left the cult I wrote them a letter asking
about the donations. I never got an answer to this letter. I posted it
publicly, too. You can try this link:

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=veterans+group:alt.religion.eckankar+auth
or:scomstoc%40cub.kcnet.org&hl=en&rnum=1&selm=712rcd%242eh%241%40nnrp1.deja

Date: 10/26/98 Author: scom...@cub.kcnet.org

And that's a good thing, since they don't get any help from MN, do they?

Moving into the sound current? Like try to visuialize diving into it or walking
into it or just concentrating on it more?

Thanks

That's the hard part... using words to describe a verb...

But whatever way the concept occurs, I found that shifting my attention INTO
the sound really got some results for myself. If you see the light, another
idea is to allow it to flow over you... that sort of thing.

I trust that things will work out well for you...

When I have had strong green tea, drank alot of clear pure h20, or felt alittle
ill, or even super concentratted, I see an imprint of a sun (Not an after image
when you stare at trees in the day and see the negative image). I see it better
when I blink and I look towards the open blinds. It goes away after a real
concentrated contemplation (like friday mental fasts for ie). I like it. It looks
cool but I am not sure what to do with it. It does not overwhelm, bug, or freek me
out. It is placed right between the eyes(at that level). Going within is a
toughy. I don't think it only means sitting under a tree in your car (modern
boudhas have to do it this way because there are no more parks left to
contemplate) and wait for the answer. I ask and test it if it feels good with me
or my gut feeling. SOmetimes, there is no response so I move and try it by making
a plan (ie just buying the books to learn a new technology like COM+, JAVA2, MFC)
and if there is a resistance I keep on but if it gets to be too big to resist I
say ok I have not finished a resting cycle so I will take it up another time.
Occasionally, some answers happen when sitting down and that is when I am FED UP
with searching.
Has this happened to you?
Thank you.
PS Has anyone done their xmas shopping?
