What's up?

It was that unless you picked an image to go with your account like T.T., H.S., J.R., and Kinpa have done you got a blue bobble head next to your name. Now, recently, the bobble heads are different colors. Shades of blue, green, rose and pink, orange, purple...

Does anyone know what's up with that or why? Do the colors have any significance? Are they random? What's Google doing?
