Sarah Palin's final death count, had she been successful, would have made
Gacy look like a piker.

I couldn't agree more. She's like the female version of that guy that
Martin Sheen played in "The Dead Zone." You know, "The missiles are
flying. Hallelujah." McCain would've cacked it under the pressure, and
that would have been the next step.

I was very interested that she would never produce a reading list. I
suspect that she realized immediately that it would be largely composed of
titles like "Birth Control Kills Babies", "Grilling Godless Homosexuals",
"Pro-Life Gunner's Weekly", and "The Dark Ages for Dummies."

What?! Her official Alaskan birth certificate doesn't count?

I must really hate the clothes of Versace, then.

Seriously, at the Repub convention, there was a moment with her and (the
current) Mrs. McCain that looked like a reunion of Absolutely Fabulous.

(Not that that in itself meant anything, politically. For us men, in
politics, it's just "Which suit should I wear?" Women have yet to
really settle on equally boring garb.)

Am I the only one for whom the bell tolls and conjures up

bar stools?

I think that was before her shopping spree (not that I
watched the convention).

For me, it's simply which candidate would ILF, though I am
vaguely interested in how quickly Obama can foist the Iraq
mess onto the UN. Unfortunately, I'm not thinking that will
be extraditing US troops and money anytime soon.

My 2001 plan for a pan-semitic peace treaty (including Turkey,
but with the US largely out of the region) to end most of the
violence and contain Saddam is looking better with each passing,
fucked up year.

Heavens! That would be obstructing justice, and no Repugnican would
want to obstruct justice -- ask Prick Cheney and Bush's Department of
Justice.

Which reminds me of an episode of Bones where someone's line
is more or less, "Please tell me you don't know how tight a
rat's rectum is."

Which reminds me of a Richard Braughtigan poem titled The Thief
about a man who sold a rat's asshole to a blind man for a
wedding ring. And sometimes trout fishing isn't about trout
fishing either.

Which reminds me that wives might want to inspect their hubby's
tacklebox to make sure it has been used.

QED -- only three degrees of seperation between Sarah Palin
and Brokeback Mountain.

I have not read much of his work, but So The Wind Won't Blow
It All Away is one of the best titles ever.

Allegedly he was one of the more influential beat generation
writers. I might need to correct the above situation.
