IN THE BEGINNING, GOD CREATED (2.)

All Living Things

Genesis 1:11-31.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding
seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in
itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his
kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his
kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

This is the Creation of the First of Five Types, or "Kinds" of Life: Plants.

Some of the Various Kinds of Plant Life may be cross pollinated, but
Plant life cannot cross breed with other Kinds of Life.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to
divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for
seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give
light upon the earth: and it was so.

All Acts of Creation occurred simultaneously across the entire universe.

That is, Substance was created everywhere in, and across, the Universe
at the same Time. The body first given Form was the Planet Earth. Now
stellar bodies are given form, which includes our Sun and Moon, stars
and galaxies.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and
the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon
the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light
from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving
creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the
open firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth,
which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every
winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

This is the Creation of the Second and Third of Five Types of Life.
The Second Kind is the Animals living in the Seas: Those which swim. Fish,
The Third Kind is the Animals which fly: Birds.

Some Kinds of fish may cross breed, and some Kinds of birds may be cross
breed, but fish cannot breed with birds.
Each Kind must breed with its own Kind, and each Kind produces its own
Kind.

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the
waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his
kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind:
and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after
their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

This is the Creation of the Fourth of Five Types of Animal Life. This is
the Animal life living on the Land. Some Kinds of Land Animals may be
cross breed, but Land animals cannot breed with Fish or Birds.
Each Kind must breed with its own Kind, and each Kind produces its own
Kind.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and
let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of
the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them.

This is the Creation of the Fifth Type of Life: Mankind.
Man produces Mankind. Humans cannot breed with Land Animals, Birds, Fish
or Plants.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living
thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which
is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the
fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to
every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have
given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very
good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Christians need not believe any theory that contradicts God's word.
If there is a choice between believing what God said and believing
something else, I will believe God.

The ORDER of creation in Genesis 1 is:

Introduction (Verses 1 - 2)

DAY 1 (Verses 3 - 5)

- Light (Day) and Darkness (Night) on an unformed Earth.

DAY 2 (Verses 6 - 8)

- Heaven with water above Heaven (where rain comes from) and water below
Heaven (seas, rivers, lakes, springs, etc but apprently water covered the
entire face of the earth see Genesis 1:1 where God's spirit hovers over the
waters of the earth. See also next verse.)

DAY 3 (Verses 9 - 13)

- Dry land and seas, rivers, lakes, springs, etc and grass, herb yielding
seed, and fruit-tree bearing fruit.

DAY 4 (Verses 14 - 19)

- Stars, Sun and Moon in Heaven.

DAY 5 (Verase 20 - 23)

- Fish, birds.

DAY 6 (Verse 24 - 31)

- Animals, humans

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The HUGE problem is the creation of the Universe, Sun and Moon on Day 4!!!!!
HOW can there be "evening and morning" WITHOUT A SUN (Days 1,2 & 3)???????
"Evening and morning" is a human construct measured by the Earth's rotation
around the Sun.
HOW can there be a heaven (sky), Earth, land and water on Earth with NO
GALAXIES OR STARS IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE (Days 1, 2 & 3)?????? (Genesis
supposes that the Earth was created FIRST out of all the galaxies, solar
systems and stars in the universe.)
I note that you CANNOT give me any scientific fact that backs up these myths
from Genesis that contradict known science.
You are ASSUMING that Bronze Age people who wrote Genesis 1 had a greater
understanding of the universe than any scientist alive today. Where is your
PROOF for such an assumption?
IF Genesis 1 were scientifically factual it would have:
DAY 1
- Light from the Big Bang (inferring creation of mass, energy, time and
space as per Einstein. One cannot talk about any time before this event.)
DAY 2
- Stars including galaxies and solar systems and our own solar system
(including Sun and Moon) on the edge of the Milky Way (not a very
significant solar system or planet and definitely not at the centre of our
galaxy or the centre of the universe) over billions of years.
DAY 3
- A molten Earth that cools with seas and land mass formed and resultant
water in clouds above the Earth and seas, lakes, rivers, etc. over billions
of years.
DAY 4
- Basic bacteria etc which evolve into fish over millions of years
DAY 5
- Fish that evolve into animals over millions of years.
DAY 6
- Animals that evolve into birds over millions of years. Some go extinct
such as the dinosaurs which existed before humans were on the Earth.
DAY 7
- Animals that evolve into humans over millions of years. God gives humans a
mind to use.
DAY 8
- God doesn't rest as God is the Creator and destroyer of new galaxies seen
being formed and ending in different parts of the galaxy as we speak.
Likewise God is responsible for continental drift (still happening) and
other natural forces that shape the Earth.
Yep! There are many such verses.
Does this mean that the Bible is invalid as a source of truth?
I don't think so. The Bible still contains truth that is valuable to us.
The problem is that truth may be conveyed in many different forms. One such
form is myth. (Jesus used parable which is another type of myth.) Myth may
not be historically true but it still conveys truth. G K Chesterton said
that he became a Christian through reading fairy stories. Fairy stories
are a type of myth. In the myth of fairy stories good always triumphs over
evil. It is not so in this life. Chesterton therefore surmised that good
must eventually triumph over evil in the life to come after death.
My understanding of Genesis 1 is different to Genesis 2 (& 3).
The earlier Genesis 2 & 3 portrays the the Earth as already formed when God
fashions a human from clay and breathes life into him. God fills this
paradise with plants and animals and makes a companion for the man from the
man's rib. This is NOT creation ex nihilo but creation by fashioning what
already exists. The humans disobey God's instruction and are forced to leave
paradise. It is a myth of exile from where one longs to be. Humans all make
the same wrong choice and suffer the consequences. We all long to return to
the Garden. This is the truth behind the myth. The story was never intended
as true time / space history.
In a similar manner Genesis 1 is a far more thought out creation myth. God
brings order to chaos - this is the meaning of the earth being "unformed and
void". Louis Ginzberg's "The Legends of the Jews" tells one interpretation
of the myth. In any case, God is the supreme Creator of all. God does not
bring order out of the chaos by fashioning it as he did with Adam in Genesis
2. In this creation myth God only has to say the "Word" and it is created.
(Literally! One Jewish myth says that God used the name of the Messiah in
order to create) All that God creates is good. The universe is good. This
has a very positive message about the physical world we live in. It is a
myth with the truth that the physical is not evil but good and to be enjoyed
as a gift from God in which God has placed us.
Jews do not interpret Genesis 3 as a universal "Fall" that one requires
"God" to become man in order to pay the penalty for a supposed inherited sin
from Adam and Eve. Genesis 3 is interpreted as "everyman's story".
Children are not "born in sin" but have the same goodness as in the original
creation - even so each of still chooses to stray from God.
Sensi:
Have you ever "considered" the creation of *inner* darkness and the
*inner* light and
how it all works together in reaping and sowing & harvesting fruit of
the spirit that which we plant on *inner* soil?
How about that inner sea? Trees of knowledge? Rivers of living
waters? Dust of death? Psalm 22:15 Fertile soil
Psalms 1:3, Isiah:56:3, Prov,11:12
For every thing created in the physical side there is also *that*
spiritual side of it.
Sensi:
On the spirit side of creation, peace cannot breed with war, Wisdom
cannot breed with ignorance.
Patience cannot breed with impatience. Fish as you mentioned is often
considered a symbol of Christ in that creation helps us
to multiply in food for our soul that our inner bodies needs are
sustained. Though you mention physical kinds of breeding and how they
by the law of creation must remain in their own class so do spiritual
things both good and bad. Each kind produces it's own kind.
Even beast of the field have their own kind as well as fruit of the
spirit...
And I marvel at God's Creation, considering *all* things. :-)
Thank you. Hoping you take notice of an inward world.
Thank you. Nice thought,
Doing great, thank you. I could complain about the freezing temps but
what good would that do? Some things we just have to accept and live with.
Yes, I do.
It's freezing in the North West too, but I heard somewhere that if it
freezes for more than three days that kills a lot of the fleas and other
unpopular vermin...
...So there is one good side, huh?
You shouldn't have too many slugs to kill this spring. ;-)
Infantile nonsense.
