HOWTO: REPORTING RACISTIC HATE PROPAGANDA ON THE NET
Unfortunately most of the bad people on the net are using Google Groups for
posting bad messages that are obscene, vulgar, discriminatory, or racistic etc.
These postings are clearly violating the laws and the use policy of Google at:
http://groups.google.com/intl/en/googlegroups/terms_of_service.html
(See #6 there)
If you see such bad messages then you should always report it
to Google by doing one of the following methods:
A) IF YOU USE GOOGLE GROUPS FOR NEWSGROUPS READING/POSTING:
1) Goto Google Groups at http://groups.google.com/
2) Enter the name of the newsgroup
3) Locate the message, and click on it
4) Click "show options"
5) Click "Show original"
6) Inspect the header lines of the message for any of these lines:
X-Complaints-To: groups...@google.com
Complaints-To: groups...@google.com
If there is such a line then it means it was written by a Google user.
7) Close the window --> it returns to the normal message window
8) If the complaint adress is as shown above then
Click "Report Abuse" --> a new window opens:
a) Give your email adress
b) Mark Type of Abuse (Spam/Illegal/Other)
c) Specify the reason
and send it by clicking the button "Send Abuse"
and close the window --> it returns to the normal message window
B) IF YOU USE A NEWSREADER PROGRAM (Outlook Express, Forte Agent etc.):
If you are reading the news in a newsreader program like Outlook Express
then see the 'Properties' of the message to get the header lines displayed.
As shown above, messages sent via the Google system have one or both of
the following entries in the msgheader:
X-Complaints-To: groups...@google.com
Complaints-To: groups...@google.com
If this is true then report abuse by using any of the following 3 methods:
1) via email to the adress groups...@google.com
2) or via http://groups-beta.google.com/groups/abuse
3) or click "show options", "Report Abuse" at Google Groups (see A above)
C) If the message was not written by a Google user then send an
email complaint to the Complaints adress found in the message header.
They usually need a copy of the complete message in question, ie. incl.
the header lines for verification, plus a reasoning.
There is also a public newsgroup for complaints: news.admin.net-abuse.usenet
