Sir William Osler wasn't as best I know an Orthodox Christian, but this
is .sigfile material nonetheless, even in this newsgroup. :-) One of my
biggest complaints about my old Protestant church (not the cult offshoot
-- the church itself) was that they held every little detail of doctrine
as equally important, from the Holy Trinity to utterly trivial details
of the Sunday worship that would simply be decided by the priest in any
Orthodox Church.
Getting hot and bothered over irrelevancies or minor details is a good
path to high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes, and frequently a
thoroughly unpleasant disposition. :/ I can't see any of the saints of
the Church approving.

It is interesting to consider the danger in that.

God is in the details, like Frank Lloyd Wright observed, but one could
also state that anger is not compatible with seeing the value of
detail. The problem would be in developing discernment, which is
easier developed with prayer and calm. Some religions pump up the
emotions of congregants. We seek oneness, , inner calm, meditative
states, ultimately theosis. So attention to detail in something like
chant, or in noticing the genius of Fibonaci sequences in the nature
God planned, in microcosms and macrocosms, all this is detail, even
the following of liturgical rubrics are details that help lead to
results, to even putting us in a state where anger is not an option.
