Not even close. If America WERE center-left, Pelosi wouldn't be sweating
getting 218 votes. Even at this point, it's not 100% sure she can. And
Reid would have no problem getting cloture.

Quite right. There are no credible studies that show the US anything but
becoming more conservative, if you use things like balancing the budget
or abortion rights as the proxy.
