Wouldn't each denomination prefer god parents within th esame
denomination? I know the RC church does.

These rules are rather ridiculous, aren't they? The unsure tone of your
question, even probably after evaluating the biblical and common human sense
factors is, in itself, ridiculous. Sounds more like the type of question
more suitably brought up at to the board of directors meeting at a country
club or a restricted living community.
I know God has to have a good sense of humor to patiently put up with the
hypocritical playacting experience of the RCC and even those non- RC's who
have been thoroughly confused by its clergy and members.

Dear John,

I'm not sure what the Roman Catholics allow, but the Orthodox Church requires
that the godparents be Orthodox. After all, their job is to make sure that the
child grows up well grounded in the Orthodox faith.

A Catholic friend asked me to be godmother to her son, and I had to turn her
down because I can't raise the boy to be Catholic.

Thank you Matushka Ann. I was aware of the Orthodox Church's
requirements. I am interested to know how the RCs approach the
matter. Perhaps they treat us differently because we're only
schismatics after all (and, I believe, those of us who are cradle
Orthodox are schismatics without personal fault!).
