Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has reiterated
Ankara's call for an urgent halt to the crippling Israeli
blockade on the coastal sliver of Gaza.
In a meeting with Palestinian ambassador to Turkey Nabil
Maarouf in Ankara on Monday, Davutoglu made a reference to
the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and
pledged Turkey will maintain its humanitarian support to the
besieged enclave, Today's Zaman daily reported.
Turkish Foreign Minister went on to note that the enduring
tragedy in Gaza is the obstacle in the way of reconciliation
among rival Palestinian groups as well as to the improvement
of peace processes in the Middle East.
"Gaza is like a ticking time bomb in the Middle East. As
long as the blockade continues, this may lead to a situation
that will escalate tension greatly," Davutoglu warned. He
noted that the Israeli blockade slapped against Gaza Strip
must be removed to let the peace process revive.
Maarouf, for his part, said, "We want our Palestinian
brethren to gather around one authority at once and protect
their rights."
Israel has continued to close all border crossings to the
Gaza Strip for more than two years. The illegal Israeli-
imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip, which has steadily
tightened since 2007, has had a disastrous impact on the
humanitarian and economic situation in the coastal enclave.
Some 1.5 million people are being denied their basic rights,
including freedom of movement, and their rights to
appropriate living conditions, work, health and education.
Poverty and unemployment rates stand at approximately 80%
and 60% respectively in the Gaza Strip.

A government, of Israel, by Israel, and, for: Israel.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light:
for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. The light shineth in darkness;
and the darkness comprehended it not. The light of the body is the eye:
if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness.
If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
