Would it be too presumptuous to ask why you are inactive at
this time? When I was getting the urge to restart my practice I found
ARBN, which put me off for a couple of years at first until I realized
that the Priesthood was the only party in the split that was acting
rationally.

there werent more then 700 "active " members. today it is much less. There
is nothing inspirational going on there. Plain and simple. No drawing
power. The temple mice are people with no lives. A sad state of affairs.
There are people who chant on there own but long since stopped donating to

Perhaps we can bring in a meter to see how many decibels the drums emit. If
that is the case, the Nichirenshu people must be close to being deaf due to
all the drums that they use. I personally developed tinnitus from the Air
Force and all the turbine engines. Although we all had ear protection, some
jackass would startup a turbine generator right next to your ass as fuck
your ears up for the whole day. Not to mention all the "touch and goes" that
the U2's did all freakin day.

by the drum sounds. I thought they sounded great.

Lots of people are serious about buddhism, some who post here, even.
Don't you think that the current conflicts within NST and SGI will be
resolved in the future? As in "this too shall pass?" I think that their
arguing with each other is about as lame as a Black Sabbath recording.
I don't know what anyone else here thinks about this, but I would never
consider NSHU to be a viable frontrunner candidate for propagation of
buddhism. Zen, no. Tibetan buddhism, no.

The most important factor that caused the appearance of Buddhism ( and
Eastern religion in general) in the United States and western countries was
LSD use in the 60's. The real bodhisattva campaign now, would have to be
the legalization of the religious use of entheogenic, visionary plants and
their derivitives, because that is where real Buddhism (and all religion for
that matter) came from in the first place---Yogic practice (chanting, etc)
alone, is too weak. people do not have the capacity (they never did). The
only thing that works in this day and age is a complete mystic experience.
Faith or intellect isn't enough, only mind blowing experience provides the
level of enthusiam required for people to give a damn about uniting.
"ODaimoku" is just the way the other N sects refer to Daimoku--they are the
ones that end there post "Gassho" Pretty silly----they are turning
Japanese...I really think so...But you can bet they ALL originally appeared
at the alter of Nichiren Shoshu by the auspices of Sokagakkai. The top
leader of both groups went nuts. and stupid westerners don't have the balls
or boobs, to kick them to the curb although those Japs are the number one
obstacle to Kosen Rufu.
If I don't talk nasty like this no one hears it. I can at best hope for a
few people to get it. In the mean time, the mental cases on this group
are just mindless robots occupying gang turf.

Some Nichiren sects have all in attendance use drums during the chanting of
Odaimoku. This is why I was stating that if the Nichiren Shoshu folks are
going to develop tinitus from the Taiko, the Nichiren Shu folks must be
about deaf by now due to all the drums that they use. I doubt if OSHA has
any say whatsoever inside a religious institution.

Nearly all religious pratctices were at some time foreign. Buddhism is
not a native religion to Japan and neither is Christianity, outside of
Palestine. Saying that the drumming was culturally out of place was
maybe a poor choice of words. It was though, in my own experience and
that of many others, annoying. No one can convince someone who is
wincing with each blow, that it's a good thing (doesn't anyone here
ever have a hangover?). Our involuntary physical reaction is
unprejudiced and natural. In any case, if an excessively loud and
offending noise drives one to distraction, what good is that.
It is reassuring to hear the temple in LA has responded to these
concerns and muted the drum and restricted its use to 5 minutes.

to the Ikeda cult antics, chuckled to herself and told her to
call back later. Then the crazed woman emailed my business
account, saying she was going to contact the attorney general
if I didn't remove the experience that she submitted for publishing
years ago, claiming that I "stole" if from her. Then she emailed
more threats. Then some more to a different business email she
found skulking around my business sites. Then as we all know,
she finally posted my full business address and phone.
But she's not satisfied with that, now she is spamming others
with crazy disjointed emails. At this point I don't owe the wacko
woman a thing. I already capitulated to her demands once, and
now I'm done with any further entertaining of her blackmail.
