"...'syncretism' which is the thrust of
'PoMo' modern religion today"
Actually, Syncretism and Post Modernism
are the same in effect, but different in
method.
Syncretism combines religions. Post
Modernism is perfectly happy for all
religions to be distinct as long as every
religionist concedes that every other
religion -although different- is equally
true.
As for PoMo architecture, The DataRat
will disagree with Harro. It's NOT:
"many different styles from many
previous periods of architecture
are utilised and incorporated into
one structure"
Rather, it's the plain vanilla box-type
high-rise structures built in American
downtown areas during the 1970-1990's.
They were based upon German worker's
housing circa the 1950's. THAT's
Post Modern architecture.

I am unfamiliar with the term "syncretism" and I can't find my reading glasses
anywhere! Define, please.

The original poster replies, yes, I have gained some insight through my
husband about what modernism is/was and what post-modernism generally infers.

Syncretism is to religion what a buffet is to cuisine. Take a

Thanks, very helpful. I'll try to remember that word. Syncretism...something like
a smorgasboard -- take what you like and enjoy.
That's not what I meant when I posted my various statements and experiences related
to Catholics, Pentacostals, etc. I hope to have made that clear.

Tnx, just read it. I dunno why, but your stuff always cracks me up.
Wry bits of humor.
Does it seem that I am doing this syncretistic stuff? I'd truly like
to know how I come across. Did not mean to imply that all religions
are fine and dandy. I think, instead, that the letters to the seven
churches in Revelations are a stern warning to each individual and
especially to the elders of any church who claim to follow and serve
Christ. I hope to be like Smyrna in times of sorrow and Philadelphia
in times of peace. However, I have been like the Laodiceans at times,
and I have been like Sardis, and I have even been like Thyatira.
My church strives to be like Philadelphia, as God *has* placed an open
door before us that no man can shut! We are being encouraged to
venture out, anchored in Christ, to get outside of our comfort zones,
to hold fast to grace, to not fall from grace, as the Ephesians and
Galatians did.

What ? "Cafeteria Religion" and "Salad
Bar Religion" ?
There are some here that don't believe
Christianity and humor can co-exist.
(You know who The DataRat means.)

No.
And, you'd hear from your favorite rodent

The Calvinist Rodent agrees with Micah's

If you know what it means, that puts you one-up on DataRat....

Now, now.
: )
Harro.

Check your Span-Engl dictionary. Ratón means mouse. I think you mean
"el rata de los datos." Here, the masculine "el" is acceptable if the
rat in question is male.

"I think you mean 'el rata de los datos'."
Used to use "rata", and everybody said
that was wrong ! Seems whatever DR
uses ...he's going to take flak.

Good grief, now DataRat is insulting innocent mice.
