I would have appreciated an Email message informing me of the fact, as I did
not intend my message to be a public one!

Perhaps "Pods" should have a warning in his tagline?

Both of the above are "unreal" addresses created by software/systems trying to
do things they don't do very well (because the case is peculiar). The first
should be guaranteed to BOUNCE. The second one WILL go to the netmail area of
my BBS but there is no such user.

<Cringe> There are so many nonstandard "gates" involved in the above I'm not
going to try to explain them all.

The normal case I've run into when something comes thru netmail to PODS is
someone's software set to send email in a reply if it isn't addressed to ALL.
Your content appeared in line with that; I guessed wrong.

PODS is the Pagan Occult Distribution System, the largest/oldest of the
Pagan/Occult alternative BBS networks (alternative to Fidonet) using "Fidonet
Technology." PODS has no email gateway to the Internet although there are
various "gateways" which convert/link "echos" and "newsgroups." Fidonet does
have email gateways.

It *might* be possible to add some sort of tag line to messages going to
Internet from PODS but before that happens I'll likely automate the gateway and
the PODS line will be replaced with the name of the sender. THAT will
sometimes result in mail for some user in Timbuktoo coming to my system, a
known hazard of this type arrangement, and one of the reasons the PODS
authorities are *not* enthusiastic about such echo/newsgroups combinations.

BTW, messages coming FROM the Internet side TO the PODS echo all have Internet
in the from line.
