This is a Unitarian "recovery" group. Are there any of you that have
left the church? I would be interested in hearing your stories, since
I have visited a couple UU churches, (and found the people to be very
nice), but, everyone seems to be a little 'standoffish', especially, due
to the fact that I have a traditional Christian background......and my
emphasis of worship, is Christian. But, isn't that what the UU is all
about? Freedom to believe what you want?

UU is in part about reeedom of belief (or supposedly freedom not to
believe as well) BUT, that is hardly the same as allowing the
individual to force the group as a whole to practice their individual
beliefs. In general the church must focus on what is common, what
unites.

Re 'standoffish' ... we're just people like anyone else ... shy,
insecure, waiting for someone else to make the first move, ... My
experience at several UUs suggests that >50% have Crhistain background
so whatever is going on I doubt its the background; if its you its
what you are NOW.

Lef the church? You mean left UU? I've partially left because my
perception is that UU is too christain.
