The problem with the Da Vinci Code to established religion, has little to do
with the story.
What Dan Brown has done, is give a wide audience an insight into the so
called Gnostic Gospels. These Gospels simply point out to people that there
were alternative Christian sects very early on.
If you go down to a bookstore, under the religious section, you suddenly
will see many books dealing with early christianity, and a lot of it no
longer toes the orthodox line.
That is what is pissing off organized religion!!
They don't want you knowing that the Gospel of Philip says that Jesus was
married. As if Jesus being married would make any difference at all.
In years past, the so called heretics could be burned at the stake and their
writings burned also. That can't be done anymore.
So organized religion rather than admit that for the first 300 years after
Jesus died, there were literally hundreds of religious sects, teaching
radically different ideas about Jesus.
And most of the sects had their own writings!!
Whether it be the Gospel of Philip saying Jesus was married, or the Acts of
Thomas saying that Thomas was the twin brother of Jesus.
Just think of the implications of Jesus having a twin brother!!
What does that do to immaculate conception??
Virgin birth??
But the one thing it does not do, is change the word of God.
Just religious rituals and dogma!!
But that is what the churches are based on.

"organized religion" and those that were excluded or even destroyed
are simply HUMAN pieces of writing like anything else found in

I finally decided to read the book... it is rather juvenile in its
approach. But what can you expect, It was clearly written with the
intent of being made into a blockbuster movie. As to the assertion
that Jesus had children and that the entire "Holy Grail" legends are
veiled references to this and the current bloodline from Jesus up to
today...
Well, I think that this concept detracts from the essence of the
message that Jesus was spreading. That all people are the image and
likeness of God... That is, if some such revelation of Jesus actually
having children, and that the bloodline still exists today, then this
would imply that perhaps this genetic line is superior to others.
That is the one fact I disagree with. Jesus's message is that we are
all the beloved children of God. (That so many "Christians" fail to
understand this simply means that more work lies ahead) So the book
itself is a fun read, with similar themes to those about King Arthur...
It is a pleasant read ... IT COULD EVEN BE TRUE... but the implication
that this would imply a "bloodline" of Kingship over man is
disturbing... AND THAT CONCEPT I WOULD FIGHT AGAINST ALL THE WAY TO THE
END.
