Although quaintly expressed it does contain truth.
and there is nothing in it that is a laughing matter.
Electro Convulsive Therapy was first used by an Italian Psychiatrist,
Ugo Celetti in 1939 after he had witnessed the electric shocking of
animals
at Rome's Abattoirs before they were slaughtered.
Later, on a visit to Sydney, I have been told, that he stated
that he had distanced from that application of the treatment.
Before 1961 - actual date not known to me, anaesthetic was
administered
before the Electro Convulsive Shocks were given.
In those years psychiatrists were searching for answers to the
problems
being experienced by some patients. In consultations it was not always
possible
to find out what those circumstances of those emotional problems
were. .
However, in later decades means of reversing the adverse consequences
of those treatments, use of Vitamin-Mineral Supplements and stress
mangement
techniques as well as preventing them from occurring have become
available.
To name the conditions Mental Illnesses is incorrect as thoughts and
emotions
although not beneficial to one's well-being, are not illnesses, and
some
can result from unrealised medical conditions, and also environmental
circumstances the person(s) did not have resouces for dealing with
them. .

Homosexuality is a response that is not desirous in a society as it
does not lead
to the reproduction of children and can increase the incidence of
Veneral diseases
that might be costly to be cured.
Although not given the public attention it deserves sexual
responsibility,
both in the use of abstinence and in conception is required knowledge
for all members of a socially responsible society
The information I have is that as I contracted Rheumatic Fever at
nineteen years of age
it left a virus in my system that had I chosen to marry and have a
child (s)he could have
had a serious congenital condition.
I was not aware of that when I had chosen Teaching as my career
when there were no married teachers employed, (as far as I knew
- the situation was to change from about 1940 when married (women)
teachers
were called back into the service to fill vacancies that came
from many young men and women being called up for war-service.
