AA Slogan - "Take what you want, and leave the rest".

AA has a slogan that reads:
"Take what you want, and leave the rest".

OK

I tried this,
I soon found out that I didn't want any of it, so I didn't take
anything, and I left all of it.

How's that for following directions....

Being addicted to alcohol or drugs

Being addicted to AA or another 12 step group?

Whoa, it's YOU who are still going to AA meetings, not me. And I recall
you saying that you could not remain sober without AA.

Now who's addicted to AA???????

AA is a crutch for those who can not control their drinking by
themselves. Those who stay with AA are weak. The ones who are truly
powerless are those who stay in AA after they've gotten off the bottle.
AA is an addiction, and if I was to answer my own question "Which
addiction is worse?", I'd say that the addiction to AA is worse than the
addiction to alcohol. At least those abusing alcohol can still laugh
and enjoy life, and can deal in reality when they are sober. AA addicts
are miserable know-it-all types who have completely lost contact with
reality, and only exist to praise that fantasy in the sky. Alcohol
causes physical illness and mental problems. AA destroys a persons
sanity permanently, just like all cults. AA is set up just like a cult,
which insists the members keep coming back. Any decent self-help
program, wants to prepare it's members for going back into the real
world, and eventially leaving them. But not AA. AA is the end of the
world, and they want to continue their brainwashing for life.

Leaving AA was the best thing I ever did. I would have gotten sober
years before I did, had I *not* gone to AA at all. At least I had enough
sense to escape their religious cult.
