It's about time someone told you the truth about Alcoholics Anonymous
Welcome everyone that has an interest in learning and coping with the
truth about Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and most
other 12 step recovery groups. For over 70 years there have been
rumors, a myth, that AA is a safe, highly successful, holistic recovery
group that is "spiritual, not religious". This is misleading and in
many cases a bold lie. Research has proven AA to be unsuccessful,
religiously invasive, cultish, and sometimes dangerous.
Former and current members often don't realize that scientifically
proven recovery modalities are available and don't seek the
alternatives. Some stay in AA hoping to find the right group or
sponsor. Others stay with hope they will eventually "get it", and wait
for the miracle to happen. Those that do leave often struggle with
various handicaps that were acquired from participating in "the
program". Some attributes include:
*
A low sense of self worth.
*
A belief that they can't do it.
*
Depression
*
Confusion about spirituality.
*
Anger
*
Loneliness
*
Guilt
*
Shame
Our mission is to help expose the truth about alcoholics anonymous as a
con, a publishing business money machine, and to support anyone that has
left or is transitioning out of any 12-step self help group and would
like to empower themselves again. We have also left the binds of AA and
fought our way through loneliness to build back our self confidence and
overcome the self-defeating thought processes we obtained from our
involvement. We regained control of our thoughts and lives, kept
ourselves sober, and began taking credit for our accomplishments.
Surrendering our lives to God, other powers, or other persons, was not
our idea of a self help group. We had sought out constructive advice
and support for our drinking problem and wanted to keep faith in
ourselves and our own ability to stay sober. This is not found in AA.
Alcoholics Anonymous is a brainwashing and deceiving, cultish religion
that takes advantage of alcoholics that are sick and desperate.
"Don't leave before the miracle happens" ?
Some of us are atheists and were insulted with the charade of chapter 4:
We Agnostics, found in the Big Book, and the demand that we "had" to
turn our lives and will over to something else was senseless and self
defeating. Some of us already had religion, and our belief was that God
had already given us the tools to achieve sobriety. Whatever our
situation, most of us weren't lying to ourselves and we had been
willing. Our honesty and will is what got us into AA. Fear, deception,
and lies kept us there, and our courage and good sense finally got us
out.
Sobriety is simply staying abstinent from drinking, period. It isn't
determined by how many meetings we have attended, how many steps we have
completed, or how many sponsor contacts we have had. There is no dry
drunk syndrome, no alcoholic personality, no disease, and being angry is
a normal emotion. One that fuels our ability to accomplish difficult
tasks, and allows us to feel content or joyous at other times.
Take your mind and personality back. It is possible through your own
determination and a loyalty to yourself. Believe in YOU again.
