being stopped by the police. Yeah, it happened to me! I lost my license,
lost my job, spent thousands on a lawyer and now have a criminal record. All
because I had two beers and a shooter and blew 1.0 blood alcohol.

when we are drunk and way over the legal limit to drive but, how do you know
when you are close to the legal limit. The cost of being wrong is way too
high. And if you get into an accident you are really screwed.

Jesus Christ Gump. Why not just not drink and drive period. It's safer and
cheaper.

Bwahahahaha!! A "1.0" blood alcohol would put you in the morgue. In
fact, the highest blood alcohol level ever recorded in a human was 0.8, and
she was dead as a doornail. This was a woman who was forced at gunpoint to
drink a fifth of vodka straight, by a sadistic loony who knew it would kill
her.

Two beers drunk quickly on an empty stomach would produce AT MOST a
0.05, more likely a 0.04. Two beers and a shot would probably produce a
0.06 or 0.07. Anyone who is at or above 0.10 is lying if they say they only
had two beers.

I myself had two beers with lunch on my fateful day, was not the
slightest bit intoxicated, and had a blood alcohol of 0.034 (one third of
the legal limit). For that, I was forced into 9 months of outpatient
treatment and 12-step hell. Of course, this had nothing to do with DUI or
the legal system.

Blood alcohol levels drop at a rate of 0.02 per hour in the average
healthy individual. Food will slow down the process. Coffee will have
absolutely no effect on the BAL. You are a jerk.

I agree with you, to a certain extent. But sometimes, especially in
the case of young people, they find themselves in a situation where they
have not planned ahead for their transportation needs. It is appropriate
for them to know how long to wait to drive after having a few drinks.

Glad you noticed that too. I was reading and cracking up.

It depends on the test subject's size/weight and levels of body fat-
and lung capacity (depending on which test instrument is used to determine
their BAC) -and also how long it's been since they consumed the alcohol (
residual alcohol in the mouth can skew the results, and BAC drops with
the passage of time since consumption .)

9 months of that crap?
I remember reading your story. I'm glad you retained counself and fought
the fools- just sorry you had to endure 9 months of forced attendance at
the snake-oil tent.

Wonder what would have happened if you- or any forced attendee- had
gone to a meeting and told them you were so impressed by Bill W's story
that you had tried belladonna while receiving mercury enemas and now,
sadly, were powerless over belladonna and mercury-enemas?

Courts here have accepted the standard of .01 per hour, not .02.
