Yes I went to Kennedy space center last month. It's interesting. They gave
a wonderful tour of the whole installation. Nasa also owns the beaches all
around. Thye are wildlife refuges.

I visited a friend. She did a lot for me in my career and I still owe her
a lot.

She has a beautiful 5 year old boy . They live in a suburb of Orlando, so
we spent all of our time at Nasa and Disney

And here's something that will blow your mind. When she was in town, I met
her dad, many years ago. He is about as nice as he can be. He was the
assistant director of Nasa. That's second in command of the whole
organization. He was responsible for the Apollo missions, and especially
and particularly the moon mission.

she worked at Stennis when she was younger, so she knows all about Nasa too.

So touring Kennedy with her, I learned things and heard gossip that you
really don't get elsewhere.

her dad used to love to tell stories about Werner Von Braun for instance,
and what a lush he was

I complimented a girl I used to supervise in the past because she was so
cute pregnent. she said Hahaha. Cute? she appreciated the compliment but
swears she really does feel like she looks more like se swallowed a beach
ball or two! The doctor said her daughter is probably about 6 lbs now, so
thats about average. she hopes she doesnt get too much bigger!! And she
really doesn't want a c-section. Surgeries scare her enough, doesn't want
one unless she has to. :) That's how normal people feel but more than
that. I remember when she had ablation surgery. I am not sure what was more
scary to her, her tachycardia or her surgery. she has Been feeling a little
rough this week. has has had some bad swelling in her ankles etc, but bllod
presure is good, bloodwork is good, so just normal for right now. she has
Been trying to stay off her feet mostly, but that is hard for her because
she is such a go getter. And luckily too, her new bass at work has been
super. He has taken everything that would require her to be standing for
over a few minutes off her, course that might have had something to do with
when she showed him her feet and ankles one day. His eyes almost popped out
of his head. You know how men are anyway! But hs been busting her ass
literally, working , training another employee to do her stuff when she is
out, and then working overtime almost every day. they are out of overtime
starting next week But that works out good for her, since she is on the
home stretch and needs to take it a little easier right now. When I went to
the dctor yesterday who said she is already 1 inch dialted and could go to
my her date of the 26th or anytime. Not much longer now!!!

our HQ has a Target underneath? she exclaimed OH MAN! that she would
always be broke, but that makes it handy for picking up things before you go
home.

she got the boom box i sent her for her nursery. she exclaimed Its so cute!
she agreed that it was a great present because she and her husband do want
to share music with the baby. Especially her husband. I remember how
musical he is too. Still has the big set up in their basement, though he
does it more of a hobby now instead of playing gigs around. THey already
have cds picked out of stuff they want to play for her. And not just some
laid back rock and roll. Classical and big band, and someone gave them some
baby music cds too (though the husband said he would draw the line at Barney
or the Wiggles). And they can download other stuff like books etc and burn
them on CD to play for her. they want the educational stuff too. the
husband said when she goes to college (and he swears he is going with her!!
hahaha) she has to get at least her masters like mamma.

I mentioned I went to Florida and to NASA? She brightend up and she loves
space stuff too so she thought it would have beeen fun! she asked me if i
went to Kennedy Space Center? they also went there 2 years ago on a florida
vacation. That was the highlight for her of course! They were building
that space shuttle launch experience so she didnt get to see or ride that,
but she we will go back maybe when her daughter is old enough. Probably in
another year or they will go back down to Miami. her husband swore they
wouldnt ever go back after the last trip. They didnt get to see any of his
family and he was so dissapointed with how much it had changed and realized
how much he prefers 'small town' life over a big metropolitan city. It was
neat for her though, got to see where he grew up and everything. But he
does want to go back maybe next year now, and of course plan a little better
with his Cuban side of the family and everything. she has met his two
aunts and one of his cousins when they visited here (and they are a riot!
and they LOVE to cook, so she got some lessons!!), but there are a pile of
other cousins and an uncle she hasn't met. And of course they will be
wanting to show off their little one - not to mention they are all thrilled
about their having a baby. Think they all thought that her husband would
never be a dad. I Dont think he realized he wanted to be one until he found
out he was going to be. He is so excited (and nervous) now its so cute she
says. He is a little jumpy and testy right now though, sinceshe is about
ready to pop, but once they get thru that, she knows he will just melt but
of course he will never admit it. When she got out of the doctor's
yesterday and told him what the doctor said, he was like "What does THAT
mean!!!????!!!. After she explained he calmed down considerably. Too
funny!

she is gettin ready for her last baby shower today. her girlfriends are
doing this one. Should be as fun as the one at work. The friends crack
her up too, they have had to call her to ask about this or that, borrow her
punch bowl, get the recipe for punch too, borrow some other serving dishes,
and she even gave them decorations she had from one of their baby showers a
few years ago, and some stuff leftover from the work one. They said they
didnt think it would be as hard for them to plan without her since they all
were working together, but the of course, they have had to call for
consultations etc... heheheh. since she was once an event planner and
caterer, she's the real pro.

No one really ever knew about Yogi Berrra -- some said he was a comedic
genius, others said he was so flustered that he never knew what he was
saying.
Either way, his best stuff will always be remembered. Who wouldn't be proud
of that kind of legacy -- intentional or not.

the managers are competing with one another in my old office, just like that
goof used to try to do with me

the office has hopefully the new boss will have some sense and get with the
team work program. We shall see. I didn't like the toxic attitude the
previous guy had. The first thing he told me about my decision to move to
di is that it was a stupid place to work.

It ain't over til it's over right!
Here's a link to some of his other memorables.
