There are 12 Step groups for all kinds of addictions. There's:

AA for the alcoholics
NA for the drug addicts
CA for the cocaine users (not sure why they dont just use NA)
SA for the smokers
OA for the over eaters
GA for the gamblers
and there's one for those addicted to sex
another for those addicted to emotions, and more.....

They are all based on the original 12 steps of AA, they just shift one
word (the word alcohol) in the First Step, to suit their own agenda.

But there comes a time when one needs to look at the program, and wonder
what happens to those who are addicted to 12 STEP PROGRAMS.
Where do they go?

AA sure has it's addicts. If they dont go to an AA meeting, the world
will stop spinning, they will relapse and die, and who knows what else
might happen (at least that is how they feel).
Having gone to NA meetings, I noticed that same addictive quality in NA.
They cant exixt without their NA meetings.

I cant speak for the other 12 step groups, since I never attended them,
but I'm sure it's the same thing....

But the question arises, where do these people go to stop their
addiction to 12 step groups? Obviously you cant send them to another 12
step group or they would get addicted to that group too. Where do they
go?

Besides suicide, which seems to be the answer for some of them, is an
insane asylum their last resort and their only hope? Does locking them
up for months and years to prevent them from going to 12 step meetings
work, or is the phychiatric drugs they receive the solution? Or, maybe
the real truth is that none of them ever really recovery from the 12
steps. Their only escape is their own death......

That is one option, and it can help some, particularly the AA members.
But not all 12 steppers are doing AA. Some are doing NA, SA, OA,
etc.....

I think the mental health treatment facilities need to create a special
program to de-program 12 step addicts, and provide them with a
non-addicting type of support.
