You're funny Rich. Our lovely 10 y.o. neice lives in Chester. I sent her a
locking diary and a "All about me" scrapbook/album she can fill in. When
she lived in Carlton/Nothingham (where we had our Hindu wedding ceremony) we
visited the safari park in Birmingham. Had a great time there. Loved the
area. It made me homesick for my part of Nova Scotia.

hey...I have family in Chester. Well, just outside Chester actually in a
lovely little village called Gt Barrow. Way back when I lived in England,
we went to visit them for Xmas and went shopping in downtown Chester.
Absolutely wonderful....the town centre was like something out of a
postcard.

I just loved downtown Chester! It is so beautiful, like you said, a
postcard.

A man was selling matted pics (watercolor?) of the clock tower on that
bridge. I bought one fore about $5. DH was mad because I spent money while
he was unemployed. I wanted a useful souvenier that made me feel good when
I looked at it. I nearly returned it but thought NO! I need to make a
stand about his silly thinking. I is framed in my LR now and makes me feel
good about my reason for keeping it. I got some very nice photos of the
place too. The people there were great too. I don't think I would mind
living there.
Don't recall Gt Barrow though. Actually I don't recall any other places.

You don't find Gt Barrow unless you're looking for it. It is one of those
tiny little villages that can only be found in England....just a pub,
grocery/post office, church, school and a few dozen houses. Very
picturesque....I caused quite a scandal there when I went to visit Mom and
Uncle Bob that year. We went to play bingo and I had the nerve to win the
big pot. Over 50 pounds....I was quite excited because we had spent more
than expected on the trip and that money was going to fix it. Turns out it
had taken over a year for the prize to grow that big and they were a bit put
out at an "outsider" winning it.

I have a pretty little watercolor of the town pump there. My Uncle Bob
painted the pump every spring and planted flowers all around it.........I
wonder who took over since he passed away. Like all those tiny little
villages....everyone there seems old. All the kids move away for school or
better jobs. I have fond memories of my visits there though.
