hi, i am a newbie with a really *old* problem. boy, am i glad i
found you guys.

here it is. on Jan 5, i carefully dismantled the christmas tree,
placing all the ornaments on the top of the entertainment center.
i also happen to suffer from severe clinical depression, which
seriously doesn't help my clutter problem.

anyways, i asked my husband to box up the ornaments because i
just didn't feel up to it, and he said he would. It is now May
29, and guess where the ornaments are???

i am just wondering: if i ever get them put away (as in before
next Christmas comes around) does anyone think i should put my
husband in the attic for storage too??

anyway, it sure feels good to know that i am not the only one
fighting what seems to be all too often a losing battle.

hope to stick around

hi rena and welcome.. got a kick out of your post..went through the same
thing with that blanky blank christmas tree for a few years and then decided
..I didn't need a christmas tree..so for two years running we didn't have
one ..even though DH tried the guilt trip(hehehe but it didn't work)and of
course, the thought never entered his head to do it himself..duh!! now who
ever wants a christmas tree puts it up..so for the last two years my son and
his family have come over and put up the tree and decorated it and then
after christmas dinner I make them take it down..so far it has worked out
great..

As for putting hubby in the attic..I think their is probably a law against
it ..probably passed by some MIL somewhere..<g> darn!!

So glad you finally decided to join in..
San...

Oh, Rena,

Please do (stick around) and I would (store him in the attic).

I think men don't see stuff like that!

Corena,

At least you got them off the tree and presumably got the tree out of
there too. In April, I noticed a Christmas decoration that I hadn't
"seen" since the year began. I was able to make space in the basement
for the ornaments and stuff that is much more accessible than the attic
and I don't dread putting them away anymore. On the otherhand, my mom
has a small tree that she keeps under a circular table with a floor
length table cloth. Just gotta know where to hide the stuff.

I know how you feel. Please look at my post "up to now"
My advice, and I am not kidding, hire help for ONE afternoon, four
hours.

Give hiim/her tissue paper and boxes. Tell him where to put the stuff
when finished. He wont need fourhours to box ornaments. Pick up other
little jobs that can be done without too much intervention on your
part. We tend to think that if we CAN do it ourselves we MUST do it
ourselves. Meanwhile we don't do anything because we feel overburdened
and stagnated. While he is boxing ornaments you can be working on
something you wouldn't ordinarily do like cleaning out some cupboard
or dusting under the bed! No kidding!
