Looking for way to hang anything up... not just shirts
and pants... but shorts, etc

Do you do such a thing? Hang everything?

If yes, how do you hang shorts and such that are kind
of hard to make stay in place on a hanger?

I pretty much hang everything except things like undies, which go in a
hanging pocket organizer.

Shorts can be folded over the bottom bar of a hanger, or you can use
clips to attach the shorts to the hanger.

Still loving those Huggable Hangers - that's one purchase I never
regretted for a moment.

I only hang t-shirts/shirts with some form of sleeves, pants and skirts and
the girls' dresses.
PJs, underwear, socks, shorts and tank tops are not hung up. Partly because
I really lack the closet space, partly because it's much easier for me to
fold them and put them in dresser drawers - which is another thing I have
many of anyways.
I do hang up capris - I do not own any (I'm much too tall for capris and
they look absolutely rediculous on me) but DDs all have them. I hang those
up on hangers in the closet. Actual shorts aren't hung mostly because of
the lack of closet space in this place...
Just folding them as you would a pair of pants, I've found, is the easiest,
unless they're a slippery type of material - like a bathing suit or a
slippery track suit type material. Those are pointless to hang on a regular
hanger, unless you have something to grip it. I remember I had some wire
hangers in my closet when I was younger that had like a type of material
braided on it - someone might know what I'm talking about, but it was like
nylon strands of material all braided and kind of pretty on the wire hanger,
which gave it some grip to hold something that's slippery or something that
doesn't stay well on a hanger... Maybe something like a spaghetti-type strap
tank, for example.

I, however, won't repeat myself again and again about my lack of closet
space ;) If I did have more closet space, I would definitely hang shorts
and similar and lessen the amount of dressers I have in my bedroom - which
is a total of 2 taller, skinnier ones and the third is a long, shorter
one... Plus DS has built in drawers for clothes in his loft bed.

Yes, or nearly everything. Not underwear and socks.

I just flop them over the hanger, but I had a friend once who used
clothespins, and there are dedicated "trouser hangers" that will hold a
pair of shorts (or trousers or a skirt) between two rods, like this:

I hang every item of clothing that it is possible to hang. I only have the
drawers under the waterbed for clothing i don't hang, so, on DH's side he
has one for socks, undershirts and a third for underwear. I have one for
socks/hose, one for regular bras and underwear and one for dressy stuff, the
strapless bra and *shudder* the girdle. I use a hanger from walmart but
have seen them other places, they have 2 clips to use for pants, skirts and
shorts. if it is an outfit the top goes over the regular hanger part, there
are also hooks on this particular hanger that will secure skiinny straps if
you want, and this particular hanger has a swivel head so i don't have to
worry how i ang it until ready to go in the closet. then i just turn it the
way i want. i have everything from shorts to night clothes on hangers and
it just works out so nice when i damp dry something then hang and let finish
drying then move to correct closet... i do have some incentive clothing that
is still too small, these are on a different hanger and have clothes pins
securing the items that tend to move on them.

Thanks Stormee!

I think I will just try using some clothespins on my
current hangers and see how I like it

there are two ways to do it, you can put the pin on the rod or go just below
the rod and clip the clothing together with the pin, Lee
