I recently received an invitiation to join the Book Club of the Month.
It is like the old record clubs used to be: you get 5 free books at
first and then pay for the rest or something like that.

Well, when I receive these things, I always call the customer service
number and tell them to remove me from the mailing list and not to sell
my name to other lists.

I have been trying for days to get through to these people!!! Every
single time I call, it tells me that all the reps are busy and I should
call back later. I have called at all hours of the day and I get this
message every single time. I looked on the web for a web site but
couldn't find one.

Does anyone know of a web site for the Book Club of the Month? If so,
please give it to me.

(from now on, I will be returning ALL of this kind of mail to the
sender)

Anything I get from gook clubs, insurance companies, credit card people,
and any other 'good deal' outfits I send back to them in their postage
paid envelope. I mark 'NO' all over it in black marker. They
eventually get the idea. Not all of them, but most! :) Lou

Just wanted to add my $.02 and warn people about BOMC. You are right
... they are next to impossible to reach by phone or fax and my letters
to cancel were ignored (all 3 of them). Other then the mail there was
no way to let them know and apparently membership cancellation letters
get thrown away.

I kept getting books mailed to me with a bill and it took 6 months of
not accepting the packages and any mail from them to finally have them
stop. YMMV but I would be VERY wary of doing business with them!

want to have books, CDs, or any other mail order product sent to my house.
I have one magazine subscription which I will let lapse when it comes time
to renew. I am tired of receiving junk mail. Although, I don't get much
of it since I started calling the customer service numbers and telling them
to remove me from their lists. Now though, I am just going to return the
mail to the sender. Maybe they will think I don't live at that address and
will stop sending me stuff.

I have done business with them since I lived near them in Harrisburg PA. and
I found them to be a GOOD company to deal with.
The address is www.bomc.com - that other reply may work also but I use that
one with no problems.
You are able to go on online and stop automatic shipments with no problem and
they have never failed to reply to my emails in a very timely manner.
Granted their toll free numbers are busy because even local people try to call
on that line...I've been to their place before the last expansion and they were
huge then.
The shipping is no more expensive than any other book store on line...I admit
I like them and the only problem I had at first is I couldn't get them to
accept a name change on the account when I moved.
I've never HAD to buy another book from but I've found too many books I want
or send as gifts as it's so easy to do that it wouldn't have been a problem to
have had to buy 1 along the way...just my 2 cents but I like them... Linda.

<snipped question and answer>

I know this is a rather stale thread...but it looked like the original poster
was asking about the Book Club of the Month and the last poster who
had positive things to say was talking about the Book of the Month Club.

(Ever so slightly different, but I suspect completely different companies.)

Get this...the other day I tried to reach them by phone again. The first
million times I tried they told me that all reps were busy and that I should call
back at a later time. So, a couple of days ago, I tried calling again using the
very same number. The recording I got this time said that I should call customer
service and hung up on me.

Whatever. If they haven't taken my name off their list as I requested by e-mail,
I will just RTS their crap until they get the message.
