Dear Friends,

Today (January 7) is the 34th anniversary of truly participating
in the A.A. program.

I thank God from the bottom of my heart, thanks to the A.A. community,
thanks to everyone who contributed to the creation of my new life.

I still can't believe so many years have passed (so quickly..)
without alcohol. So many things have happened in my new era
that began on January 7, 1987, - but it's true.
Amazing truth inspired by Amazing Grace - which was impossible
for me before that date.
With a "little" help from my AA friends ...

My family - my wife, my daughter, my granddaughter - their
visible true happiness are great signs of my new meaning of life.

Today I feel deep gratitude and happiness.
My only merit is that I took this opportunity,
without the slightest compromise - I followed the map - the AA program.
I am going unquestioningly the right path - when considering
the final goal, but I often get my direction wrong -
making a lot of mistakes, sometimes deliberately, sometimes
thoughtlessly, sometimes I'm fed up with everything, etc. etc.
Hope no crisis is there to destroy me - after deep scrutiny
it is there for me something inside a problem that confirms
the sense shown to me - and the meaning of my life.
Cause I am not alone in this world, although I often
feel lonely. After some time of hard work I return to reality,
to everyday life.
Which is hellishly difficult, but exhilaratingly beautiful.

Uff- forgive me friends...

God bless all of you who helped me

PS. My first post to AA newsgroups was written on Jan 7th 2006.

Congratulations! It's always a pleasure to see a fellow alcoholic who
has found his way to long-term peace.

Think you'll ever make it?

They say the first 35 are the hardest.

Congratulations. I'm sure we can all relate to the impact on family. I
hooked up with the love of my life at a high school reunion back in 88
when newly sober. Never would have happened if I had been drinking that
evening.
