It's not a miracle until after a year?
Jeeez, I've had it wrong for all this time now :(

God created man in His own image, and man promptly returned the favor.
don't sweat it,the official araa count down is not being conducted by Mike
anyway.
The official list does not discriminate against our newer members.

Yes Janine I will and have. The "only requirement" to be added to the
Official araa Birthday List is to simply state your name and sobriety date
or just the number of years you have if that is what you want, but without a
date we can't send you any AA e-birthday cards. If this becomes a regular
thing with the support of the newsgroup then I might also bring back the
chip and medallion graphics, but that will require a little scanning and
editing first. Unless someone has these in jpg or gif format?
Mack
If the group wants to have 2 lists one with sobriety birthdates and one with
belly button dates that can be done if the dates are provided. An
alternative would be to list the belly button date first and the sobriety
date second in the same list next to the individuals name.
Whether that person got sober in AA or not, got sober in AA and then left
and stayed sober without AA is of no concern to me. Even the most
antisocial posters in this group are welcome to add their names to the B-day
list.

It's still wrong, you Yankee imperialist. I want it posted as ??/08/xx or
19xx-08-??. This is an international NG. We'll have none of your filthy
capitalist running dog date formats used here.
Cheers,
Lech

Okay. Take my name OFF the list, please.
Thank you.

Mike has been posting this list in this way ever since he started posting to
araa a year or so ago. Until now, no one has ever objected.
But then Mike made the mistake of saying "No." Of hurting someone's
feelings.
So now we have a competing list put up by someone who objected to Mike's
format -- because he would not have been included. Everyone jumped on the
bandwagon to shouts of "One Day At A Time" and "The person who got up first
this morning has the most sobriety" and "The most important person in the
room is the newcomer."
What people have forgotten is that Mike has been using this list to
calculate the number of YEars of sobriety represented by the posters in this
newsgroup. I've used the same technique in my home group -- telling the
newbie that among the 15 or so people in attendance, there's over 150 years
of experience at sober living to take advantage of.
Mike made the mistake of calling his list a "countdown," and now he's being
vilified for it.
So now we have Mike's "Number of years sober" list, and Mack's (un)Official,
PC-Police-Approved a.r.aa "Post your DOS to MY list" list.
Whatever. I choose not to participate in either.
Silver lining ------> at least it's not another Poop Peanut post.

Not true :)
I'm hideously hurt. But I don't care about those stupid dates anyway. This is
the only way to get anyone but the idiotic Becky to reply to my silly bitter
little postings that dot this ng like dog droppings. From a small dog.

not true :)
hehe.....I was thinking maybe footnotes to the list as well as an index.
As I've read these posts about the list.....I can't help but be reminded of a
theory I have.
In the early days somebody asked somebody what can we do to keep their minds
off of drinking. And I swear somebody said, "I know we'll have meetings where
they can talk and express their opinions. That oughta keep 'em busy. You know
how much they love the sound of thier own voice". lol
post or lose an 'n' to reply

We know that, idioto. After all, you're the most psycho poster here, and you're
pretending to run the damn thing. What do you think, we fell off a melon truck
yesterday?
Go back to your Mama now and cry.

Thanks, Always-A-Perfect-Share.
I'm trying to make my shares perfect as well. Sharing & Caring
is very important to me. After all, I didn't fall off a melon truck yesterday.

Before you buy.
Just so you know, Lech, I didn't write the above. Seems I finally
earned my own personal forger. Where do people find the time for such
things?
Anyway, I think we both jumped off that truck... :)
