So it's getting warm here in Southern Ontario. I'm starting to dig
out the summer hiking stuff. The hat, the stick, the boots, the
maps, the daypack. My hope is to finish the northern quarter
of the Bruce Trail this summer. Lots of views of Georgian Bay
from the top of the Niagara escarpment. Gnarled old cedar
trees clinging to rocky crags and getting their living from 3/4 cup
of soil blown there by the wind. Squirrels and other small
furries complaining about me. Possibly some deer if I'm
quiet and observe carefully. Possibly a raccoon or a porcupine.
Probably some ducks. Possibly some quail. And if I'm
exceptionally lucky maybe a black bear.
Where are folks planning on hiking this summer?

Blue Ridge Parkway and local State Parks here in Piedmont North
Carolina. The Parkway has been affected by the sequester.
