4 Men Arrested in Hofstra Rape Case
Cops Search for 5th Attacker

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Five men gang raped an 18-year-old Hofstra
University student on campus early Sunday morning after one of them
lured her away from a party by snatching her cell phone, according to
police. Detectives have arrested four men and are looking for the
fifth suspect.
Cops would not say whether the victim knew any of the men beforehand
or where on the sprawling Hempstead campus she was attacked.
Jesus Ortiz, 19, and Rondell Bedward, 21, both of the Bronx were
arraigned on rape charges on Monday. Ortiz also faces grand larceny
charges for allegedly stealing the woman's mobile phone.
Stalin Felipe, 19, of the Bronx, and Kevin Taveras, 20, of Brentwood,
Long Island were arraigned Tuesday in Hempstead.
A judge set bail at $500,000 bond or $350,000 cash for each
defendant. They are due back in court on Sept. 17, according to the
Nassau County District Attorney's Office.
Nassau County police said that Ortiz lured the student off campus by
grabbing her phone while they were dancing at a party, the New York
Post reports.
"Immediately following that dance, he did snatch her cell phone from
her waist," Lt. John Allen told the Post. "She repeatedly asked for
the cell phone but he was not responsive. He left the club. She
followed him out of the club. The cell phone was taken to lure her
away from the crowd."
She followed him into a nearby high-rise dorm and into an elevator,
the report said. They got off on a floor, where they encountered the
other suspects, police said. They then forced her into a bathroom
where they took turns raping her, Lt. Allen said.
Bedward is a Hofstra student, police said. The others are his
friends. Nassau cops said that Bedward had signed them in through
security.
Taveres' father told the Post that his son is innocent.

get there whay she will be made the Villian and her past will be

She not all; a charge of rape can do things to the accused that are fairly
abusive in the name of victims rights.
There are other stories of inter-racial violence that are true that don't
seem to be making the news.

Yes George, I see that now, that she lied, However, I don't agree with
the racist tone of the anwsers here, I do have a TON of frustration
with the pass that Minorities get in Crime against white folks and
others! I see it as Racist to let them loose when they should be
procecuted? That this one woman lied didn't change the fact that thier
was no outrage, had she been Black or Hispanic and this had really
happened it would have been all over the News the Groups with Jessie
Jackon and Al Sharpton who show up and always cause crap would have
been seen? All we ask for is an Even playing field, not one slanted
uphill for whites and non minorities? Is that so much to ask? To not
let assholes go because they are Black, or Hispanic or some Minority?
I see in so many p;laces that must be too much to ask, as we can never

language that offends most people and is usually associated with the hate
groups. Even though he explains he doesn't consider all black people to be
one. It raises the thought that he has problems with the people in those
racial/ethnic categories who aren't committing crimes.
The media has been giving a lot of people a free pass on criminal behavior
and has been coddling the folks in power long before they were. I am kind of
surprised they took the time to crucify the prosecutor in the Duke
University rape accusation scandal. I wonder if the accused players will
ever lose the stigma of the accusation. THere will probably always be
someone who still thinks they are guilty. While I'm on the topic Al Sharpton
still thiks the white people accused in the Tawna Brawley case are guilty
I maybe cynical but I'm not taking anything at face value anymore. You get a
lot less surprises that way.
BTW I'd rather be in Idaho than Las Vegas.
