Does anyone know if iron ore deposits in the ground will effect the readings
on a GPS.
A freind and I were out geocaching over the weekend and on one particular
cache the needle was jumping all over the place (even more than usual). I
had a clear view of the sky and was tracking at least 7 satelites. The GPS
(Garmen yellow eTrex) behaved all day up until this point.
I was reading through some of the descriptions that others had written and
almost everyone had mentioned their GPS's were doing the same thing for this
particular cache.

He states he was using the yellow garmin etrex which doesn't have a compass,
but it does raise
the point that in some places it may well be worth turning OFF your compass
and keeping on the move
slightly to get more accurate readings where a compass may be corrupted.
Well, the GPS is a radio receiver (and a computer...but I want to focus on
the radio part) I'm a ham radio operator. We know that certain things ..
buildings, cliffs, large deposits of iron ore...can reflect radio waves. If
you are close enough to one, or more, of these reflectors *and* you can also
see the transmitter(s) directly .. you have what is called "multipath
reflection". On your TV screen this shows up as ghost images. You are
receiving the transmissions directly, *and* via the reflections. The GPS
determines its location by precise timing of the reception of the sat
signals.
But this is just an educated guess.

>Yes. Why move the discussion from geocaching.com to this newsgroup?
I'm hard up for traffic here?
Plus, in a way it only seems fair. One of the things I've neglected through all
this was ARG.

It was light hearted fun at first but after a few days she started to receive
"fan" mail and responding.
She was many different things to many different people.
She was both a psycho-therapist and a wanton whore.
In that sense she was me.

Who's photo were you using?
Nice troll, by the way.

I registered waypoints.org a while back (and someone here grumbled because they
wanted it) but on a lark I had it forwarded to a pizza delivery driver site.
I don't deliver pizzas but what the heck...
Anyway I've pointed it at the Mitsuko page (Which is posting feedback now) and
it works about half the time.
The other half of the time it goes back to the pizza page...
I know that women can never make up their mind but a URL forwarding service
shouldn't be this way, should it?
I was reminded of a time about 14 years ago. I had joined the Canadian
Forces, Primary Reserve and was away on my basic training. We had one
female in our section and she was 6' tall, and absolutely stunning. She
claimed that she did modelling and joined because she wanted to do something
different, sort of prove that she wasn't just good looks.
Unfortunatly for her (but fortunate for me as you will see) most of the guys
shunned her and didn't like the idea of a woman in the army. On the last
week of our basic training we did a field exercise. We had to pair up and
setup hoochies (tents made out of groundsheets and bungy cords). No one
wanted to hooch with "the girl" so I got stuck doing it because I didn't
have a problem with her.
Well, my buddies sure screwed up on that one because after we got our hooch
set up, we had to take a nap because we were going to be out all night on
manouvers. Her and I climed into the hooch. To my absolute surprise she
got undressed down to her skimpy g-string panties and bra. She was crawling
around on her sleeping bag getting stuff ready, and I was trying NOT to pass
out!!!! (Let's just say that at the time I was 17 and growing up in the
country hadn't had much of an opportunity to, um.... lose my virginity so at
the time I was still a virgin). Anyways, nothing happened between us for
several reasons the least of which was that we were surrounded by other
hoochies and if we'd gotten caught it would have been Military Police time!
(Not to mention she probably wasn't interested anyways. I figure I had hung
out with her enought to fall into that "friend zone" and she probably saw me
as one of the girls)
She went onto an admin role but later on in my career I had the pleasure of
working with several female infantry persons. In fact, I taught on an
Infantry course and we had one of the very first female infantry candidates
in my section (I flunked her ass out for soooo many reasons. She just
couldn't cut it.).
I knew this one woman who was very good looking. She was even HOT in green
camoflauge makeup!!! She also was one of the best soldiers I have ever
worked with. I always knew I could count on her to pull her weight and to
keep her shit together, something I can't say about all the men I worked
with.
Needless to say, my point is that just because a woman is HOT, doesn't mean
she is a wimp!!!
Cheers,
Rob

No shit (Wow look it's not even bleeped!)
If someone wants to argue about guns, we can direct them to a more appropriate
group. I'm really grateful that this place is here at the moment.
I canceled my Groundspeak subscription over Jeremy's latest comment.
He's entitled to his opinions but I'm not going to pay him for them.
(Mitsuko was disruptive)
She was very low key on the forums and had all but stopped posting when the
rotational wind generator became speckled with excrement.
Some other people were disruptive, but not Mitsuko, and not me as me.
I'm still a little bitter that my previous donations ($29.75) weren't applied to
the membership. He may have needed the money but had I waited until the
memberships were offered before donating, I'd have another nine months or so
left.
I gave the initial money because I believed in what he was doing.... He managed
to make me feel like a fool. (whose money was soon parted)
I'll be discouraging people from sending in money.... If he wants to have
control of everything, let him pay for it.
I have dozens of people that will email prc files to me if I want.
I never got around to installing the ones that arrived previously so it's
unlikely that I will ask. But they would send it if I did, I'd even be willing
to pay some third party for this. (not offering currently)
Not to redirect traffic from here but the IRC channel on

That's been a happening place from time to time. I've never been a fan of chat
before, so it's odd for me to pimp for such a place. ClayJar set it up, and
while the scheduled meeting is at 6:30 PST on Mondays.... Somebody is usually in
there.
