Hello All,

From my experience the Icey-Tek, Engel and True Blue seem to provide
the best ice retention and are the best value for the money. You will
recoup the cost in no time on just ice alone, not to mention the gas
to go get the ice every time you need it. Oh, but what if your far
from a store or civilization? Guess your up shits creek without a
paddle unless you have a decent ice chests cooler like an Icey-Tek or
Engel.

Best place to get the Icey-Tek or any good cooler worth the money is
http://www.thebestcooler.com/ or http://www.icey-tek-coolers.com

Good luck on your ice chests hunting. I'm sure you will love any of
the ones I've recommended:)

I think a better buy is the Coleman 5 day chests, or more money, 6 day.
Only trouble, not great for moving open vehicles, no seal or latch.

I like the Engel coolers and Icey-Tek coolers. The long box Icey-Tek is the best cooler for camping. It has handles which make it much easier to carry compared to the Icey Tek cube box style.

Might be my end of camping. I have a fixed trailer. My experience with
Coleman, most of the smaller models don't have insulation in top, and are
just for one day outings. The larger five and six day coolers work for
simple camping. If I had the need, I might buy a more expensive type.

And of course, I watched this last spring when this thread started.

I agree - www.thebestcooler.com is a great store for us one-stop shoppers who like convenience and comparing products. The Evakool coolers and the Grizzly coolers are by far the best in my opinion. Granted, their all good in their own respect and well worth the investment. Ideal for camping or for the weekend warrior who likes adventurous trips on a regular basis or is always traveling.

The engel deepblue coolers have made several new design improvements and they now have the live bait coolers which are a great product for the money. The Moeller coolers are one of my top picks because their made in the USA. That in itself can make or break my purchasing decision depending on the purpose of the product.

Another great place to get the engel coolers and portable fridge freezers is at http://www.buy-engel-coolers.com/

Agreed! Not so sure about the icey-tek coolers though...I've heard some pretty awful things about them from some buddies of mine! But that's just my opinion about the matter after doing literally hours of research on the newest and best coolers/ice chest on the market for 2013. I'm debating on getting (1) fairly large cooler rather than bringing my "65 quart Engel" and my "70 quart Igloo Yukon cold locker" with me out on the boat or on weekend trips where I know I'll needing a little extra room.

If it wasn't such a good investment I'd say the heck with it, but after you've lost a day's fresh catch bustin your but in the blazing 90 degree Texas heat from using garbage coolers that don't hold ice for crap and break from just from moving them around, you'd understand and know what I mean which I'm sure most of you folks can relate to and also agree that a "good premium rotomolded quality built cooler" is the way to go without a doubt if your looking to keep ice and want it to last! Yes you pay a tad more like anything quality, but you'll have it for the rest of your life and it'll pay for itself in no time at all. Better yet...you can enjoy ice cold drinks after 3 solid days on the water or camping in the muddle of nowhere:)

Conclusion: If you like quality and use a cooler more than 2 times a year...premium coolers/ice chests are certainly the way to go! May seem a little pricey but you'll definitely "SAVE MONEY" quickly not having to buy ice all the time with like the cheapo coolers you get from the big-box stores. Yes...even the "yeti coolers" I'm talking about for all you Yeti fans...not so cool of a cooler from what I hear huh? :p Especially with coolers out there like the Grizzly, Evakool, NRS, Moeller, Yukon, Engel, or even the IceMate coolers, all of which I've personally heard or read nothing but positive things about! Can't say that about the "yeti coolers" or the "icey-tek coolers".

If anyone's had any luck with the "IceMate coolers" or the "Moeller coolers" I'd love to hear your feedback? Definitely not going with the highly "over rated and over priced yeti"!

My experience: I've had great luck with the "Engel coolers" -> http://www.buy-engel-coolers.com and "Igloo Yukon 70 quart" -> http://www.thebestcooler.com/igloo-yukon-70-quart-cold-locker-ice-chest-i-cooler-made-in-usa/ - My igloo yukon can't come close to keeping ice as long as my Engel cooler though! Engel coolers are the best I've ever owned.

P.S. To whoever wrote this. Thanks for the link to http://www.thebestcooler.com/ awesome selection of top name ice coolers: )

Thanks again! Saved me some time: )

Does anyone have any experience with the "Engel 12volt portable refrigerators"? They seem to be the most efficient and durable from what I've read at http://www.thebestcooler.com/engel/ and several other popular sources online.

The other option I'm considering would be something like the "Koolatron 12volt units" which are a tad cheaper but use far more energy. Engel also seems to have a ton of cool accessories.

Who's better? Is it Engel? or is it Koolatron?

I hope to get some input. Thanks in advance folks!

Got my pelican 65 quart today... I've dealt with Pelican products for years for gun and gear cases. They make the best gear boxes hands down. The cooler is built like a tank, Definitely Pelican quality.

Pros: Molded Tie down points so you can use the cooler while its secured. Two handle system, rock solid.

Cons: This sucker is heavy, probably not a good choice if you're going to be carrying it very far.

For a boat or the back of a Jeep, it is a serious piece of gear.

Are the Pelican coolers sold at MAP pricing like the other top name cooler brands? I've seen different prices online so a tad confused. Anyone know?

In my experience, it's better to pay full MAP & purchase from an "authorized dealer", so this way you know you're covered if something happens to the cooler.

Years ago I purchased the Icey-Tek cooler and had an issue with the dark color warping the lid and the guys I bought it from couldn't do a dam thing about it because they weren't an "Authorized Dealer" - a lesson learned. :/ Pretty much goes with all industries. There's tons of tackle shops, and so forth out there selling premium coolers and other products and are just buying bulk from dealers to make some quick cash, but don't offer warranties or any type service.

"The Best Cooler Store" was kind enough to rectify the issue when I purchased a new one. Basically, I got2 new Icey-Tek's out of the deal. Now I want a Pelican or the Canyon. Just can't decide.

Anyone have a canyon and pelican? Or reviews?

The best cooler brands in 2014 are the "Extreme Cold Series" and the "Canyon Outfitter Series" ice chest. Freebies availble with purchase at http://www.thebestcooler.com/hot-products/ - Both make Yeti and Engel look like childs play! : )

If your looking for the newest and best ice chest on the market I'd recommend looking into the "extreme cold series" the ultimate ice chest at www.thebestcooler.com/extreme-cold-series/

It's the latest and greatest in rotomolded cooler technology and one of the only premium cooler brands with a full 3" of high density foam insulation around the entire ice chest including the lid and floor of the cooler.

Extreme Cold Series Features:

5 year warranty
10+ day ice rating
wheels for easy moving
steel locking plates
built in ruler
super tough and rugged polyethylene exterior
many accessories available
free shipping
free padlock

Is a better cooler than the Yeti and Enel DeepBlue coolers without a doubt! Especially when it comes to quality and pricing.

If you own a premium built cooler please chime in and tell us what your experience has been like?

Sure, I guess it really depends on what you mean by best. If you don't care about cost get a Yeti. It's super durable and holds ice for a really long time. Plus it looks cool. If you want the best bang for the buck, the Igloo MaxCold should do. It also depends on what you plan on doing with it and how big you want your cooler to be. There's no doubt that Bison is by far one of the best coolers on the market! They are Made In The USA and are far better than Yeti for the money. See for yourself at - https://www.bisoncoolers.com/ or http://www.bisonicechestcoolers.com/

The second pick would be the Extreme Cold Series or the Canyon coolers which seem to be amazing coolers compared to most others.
