From what I've read, neither pass covers camping fees. If my goal is to
*camp* at various national parks/forests, would it pay at all to get
either pass?

The only way it could, I suppose, is if (for camping) you have to first
pay an entrance fee and THEN a camping fee, and the passes cover the
entrance fee.

Golden Age and Golden Passport on the ones that give you a discount for camping.

Golden Age and Golden Access... but since I'm neither elderly nor
disabled, I can't get either one.

It depends on how much you're going to travel. In May, we visited Big Bend
NP in Texas, Rocky Mtn NP in Colorado, and a couple of smaller Nat Monuments
in between. Although the passes didnt cover our camping, they did cover the
separate park entrance fees which can add up. I believe it was $15 at each
of the big NPs, but this covers you for several days. You also get discounts
on items in the NP gift shops. We bought several books and maps, so it all
added up. If you plan on visiting any Nat Forests that charge entry fees,
you can purchase a sticker for your card for an additional $10-$15.
