- Higher Gear Cyclery of Longmont, CO renewed as an NBG Anchor Sponsor
dealer. And while I was talking with Buzz Feldman, the owner there, he
told me he biked across the US last summer for the American Lung Assn.
He's 55 years old and did so on a Vision recumbent. He told me the story
about how a week into the ride one of the leaders asked for a show of
hands of all those who had sore butts. All but 5 people raised their
hands. What were they riding? Recumbents! His shop is at:
- Rapid Transit Cycles of Chicago, IL renewed as an NBG Anchor Sponsor
dealer. They are at:
_ The Reynolds Weld Lab people over in Darry, NH, just renewed as NBG
sponsors and indeed they are all about performance. In fact, George
Reynolds tested one of their new designs in the Boston to Montreal race
that he completed over the summer. And he wants his bike to not only smoke
the field on the flats as he did on that ride but he wants to do so on
the ascents as well. Toward that end, he is bringing a recumbent/upright
to the marketplace. Soon he will be sending me pictures but he tells me
that he has to do a two second dismount to move to the upright position
for a climb. He can stay on the bike to switch it back to recumbent.
Sounds like the cutting edge! He tells me it adds three pounds to the bike
and will sell for less than $3,000!
