I see this question spashed around everywhere i look. Oh no, im 33, im to
old to go to raves. That is such crap. Im from melbourne, (australia) and i
dont think raves have an age limit, if you're able to appreciate them,
you're old enough to go to them. Ive seen people that were around 60 years
old at raves, with glowsticks and glow-necklaces and absolutely having a
ball! We talked to them for a while and they were actually pretty cool.

The thing about the rave culture is, it is a culture without boundaries. It
doesnt exist so that people can be choosy about who you're with. Raves are
all about meeting people who appreciate the music as much as you do. And who
cares how old they are?! I know i dont, as long as i go to raves i probably
never will.

The rave culture in this way is unlike any other in the clubbing scene. And
im sure you all know what im talking about, the dingy, sleazy places that
play ''commercial dance and r&b" kinda places where you can get 2 vodkas or
burbons ofor the price of one. Those places are cold, empty. The people you
meet either like you or hate you. In one of these places, being alone means
being really alone, alienated.

The best rave i ever went to, i was on my own, and spent the whole night
meeting new people, and it was one of the most unreal experiences of my
life.

Hopefully, time will ensure that all ravers are as aware of the scene as i
am, its not a place to go, its a place to live. Have a cruisy one people,

Michael from Melbourne

So you think having 12 and 13 yr olds at parties is ok?Think that these
youngins half your age and weight can handle them selves on the same drugs that
Mr.30yr old has just takin?I just went to a party over the last weekend which
was about 3 to 3500 people. Most of which were close to 16 and 17 yr of age.I
don't think cuttin these kids loose on a drug supermarket is a great idea.I saw
some pretty screwed up looking kids at this party.Nothing like seeing teenagers
searching on the floor with their nice little glow sticks looking for that last
roll or smigin of speed left in that little baggy.I think there are predators
out there that would take advantage of these situations.I agree with you that
it is great togo out and rave meet tons of people and have a blast. But think
there is to lack of responsiblity at these kinds of parties, both on the event
goers part and the ravers part.I am not trying to make this a personel attack
against you, just trying to express my thoughts about age at parties.thanks
dtter69(mr.30yd old himself) peace

reading thro these posts recently the topic of age is cropping up quiet a
lot so here my thoughts

the older i get the sensible i get certainly with regards to drugs i am
fairly clued up, have read up about them, generally know what and how much
to take, and take them to enhance my raving experience and not to get
totally off my face.

which does sem to be the problem with the younger ravers who will think
nothing of popping 5-6 -7 pills a night to get wasted.

a tip for you young uns STOP BEING SO KIN STUPID.

look after yourselves and you will be able to rave and dance for many ears

remember PLUR!!

plur doesnt mean get off your face and abuse yourselves

i prefer to see happy smiley faces at parties not a kid whos took one to
many and then feel responsible for looking after them.

right thats it i'm off my soapbox now

ps i agree with detter69

Yea, who cares, as long as they're cool. It's just most adults especially
grandparents start becomming really conservative.... but I'm sure that's not
always the case. If someones cool who the fuck cares about age, etc.

Your never to old unless you think you are.
Getting down and going wild continues to be fun as long as the joints and
muscles can stand it. The music is accessible to anyone of open mind.

When I go to DC's Buzz on August 31 to hear Tall Paul (International star) and
Jen Lasher and Swithcstance (Local stars) I will, as usual. get my baggy old
arese into its groove and lose the plot for 8 straight hours. I will be
celbrating my 50th Birthday. I've never felt alone. The kids think it's cool
that I have such a great time and tons of them come up and talk to me,
especially because they see me at so many clubs and parties in the area.

You don't stop having fun because you get old.
You get old because you stop having fun.

Yeah, i DO think that 13 year olds should be allowed at raves. I do know
that yeah, alot of them do take more than they can handle, but all that has
to do is more a lack of education. take utopia a few months ago, an all ages
event at sydneys superdome. they had 16000 people (alot for aus, maybe not
for usa but still) , and everyone i talked to said it was the best rave they
ever went to. the whole crowd had an awsome vibe and the ages didnt matter.

I personally think that ''taking advantage'' of little kiddies on pills is a
vastly american (no offence) based phenomenom. come to australia, and you
wont believe it. Saying that someone is too young to experience something is
saying something about a lack of maturity - the two are not related.

I just completely lost my train of argument. i hate when that happens. The
point i was trying to make is, if you dont think that someone who loves
raves, regardless of their age, doesnt belong there, for whatever reason -
you are what is killing the rave culture.

my 2c. :)
