Well, they had better have some good beer. And some Red Bull.

Before you buy.
What the hell is that?

show last night
good point. NTT would make himself a whole lot more money if it was a
Red Bull Garden. i do know some aging crackheads who are looking
forward to the beer garden, actually. funny how thngs change.

Sure. The show was pretty fun. Hooverphonic opened and played one of my
favourite songs,"Battersea" as the 2nd tune of their set. They played between
45 minutes and an hour.
Then BT played with a live band. The set list is was follows:
1.Flaming June (Intro)
2.Smart Bomb
3.Blue Skies
4. Shame
5. Movement in Still Life
6. Mercury & Solace
7. Godspeed
8. Flaming June
9. Dreaming
10. Running Down the Way Up
11.Madskillz (Mic Chekka)
followed by an encore of
1.Satellite
2. Never Gonna Come Back Down
As you can see from the set list, most of the tunes were from the most
recent album, Movement in Still Life. Personally this is my least favourite of
his albums but the show was excedingly energetic and fun. My only complaint
would have to be with one of his singers. Since the original singers of the
tunes (Jan Johnston, Tori Amos, and Kirsty Hawkshaw) couldn't be there for the
tour he had his bass player Nikki sing some (she was good) and another woman
sing the others (she was er, um, not, oops).
I had a good time over all, but I think that the place would have been sold
out if it had not been Halloween in SF. SF has a tradition of going to the
Castro area and partying so it wasn't filled to capacity.
He's in LA tonight and San Diego the next if anyone wants to catch him.

You have to rent venues. Ya know, getting the Armory isn't exactly like renting
out the dining hall at the Motel 6. So the money has to go into that also. You
gotta make it a visual experience as well. Lights and Laser...hmm...they cost
money, as well as the people who have to run them.
What people fail to realize is that this is a MASSIVE. It's not Friday nights at
Plush. There are gonna be LOTS of people there. And it is going to be EXPENSIVE.
Sorry, but you pay top dollar for top talent. If you want local talent, there are
tons of local parties in the area...and the scene does grow because of them. These
are two different things. Sometimes people want to see big name talent, and thats
what events like this are for.
I want to see Andy C....very badly...I will pay $40 to see Andy C
But please don't accuse that the reason this is priced as such is out of
greed...that is being totally unfair to promotors that have already given so much
to the scene. And providing people a chance to see talent that they wouldn't have
a chance to see otherwise.

Shit happens...unexpectedly..there is nothing you can really do to prevent that,
'cept plan ahead. The world won't end b/c there isn't any water. A phat party is
a phat party, regardless

Big names cost money. Am I repeating myself?

what crew are you with? maybe other people should try being the judge of what you
are doing for the scene. Being a promotor you must know that you wouldn't purposly
put yourself X amount of dollars in the hole, just for the sake of throwing a phat
party. I mean most promotors do want to throw ANOTHER party again sometimes...and
that's kinda hard to do when your living out of a cardboard box.

I was told that Brian was touring with some chic from southpark (maybe the
voice of wendy or something) i heard she wasnt bad but wasnt good either. i
would still go see him. oops them.
I have no idea but that's slightly bizarre. *shrug* I know that BT's a huge
Southpark fan though so it could be true, lol. The bassist/singer was ok, it
was just the other one that had to be drowned out by the synths so you didn't
hear how bad she was.
*oops*
