ultraworld has thrown mind blowin parties for a while now but every year lonnie
raises it a 5 spot(because noone cares about a measly 5bucks), but now it's 40
fuckin dollars. in addition tha last 2 parties(30$ and 35$) both ran out of
water. now maybe just maybe he should can tha alcohol and try to make sure
people have plenty of h20. Lonnie oh Lonnie what are you doin to our scene?
aren't you makin enuff money as it is? these are parties not fucking concerts.
this is a major dissapointment. Ultraworld fully represents...i guess not

I thought it was only $35. Starscape (last party) was only $25. $15 of that
$25 went to Baltimore Reads (a respected charity) and I also don't remember
them running out of water. I don't remember seeing anything about a bar
either.

Sure. The show was pretty fun. Hooverphonic opened and played one of my
favourite songs,"Battersea" as the 2nd tune of their set. They played between
45 minutes and an hour.
Then BT played with a live band. The set list is was follows:
1.Flaming June (Intro)
2.Smart Bomb
3.Blue Skies
4. Shame
5. Movement in Still Life
6. Mercury & Solace
7. Godspeed
8. Flaming June
9. Dreaming
10. Running Down the Way Up
11.Madskillz (Mic Chekka)
followed by an encore of
1.Satellite
2. Never Gonna Come Back Down

As you can see from the set list, most of the tunes were from the most
recent album, Movement in Still Life. Personally this is my least favourite of
his albums but the show was excedingly energetic and fun. My only complaint
would have to be with one of his singers. Since the original singers of the
tunes (Jan Johnston, Tori Amos, and Kirsty Hawkshaw) couldn't be there for the
tour he had his bass player Nikki sing some (she was good) and another woman
sing the others (she was er, um, not, oops).
I had a good time over all, but I think that the place would have been sold
out if it had not been Halloween in SF. SF has a tradition of going to the
Castro area and partying so it wasn't filled to capacity.
He's in LA tonight and San Diego the next if anyone wants to catch him.

how can you all say that these promoters are greedy when you most likley
have no idea what goes in t throwing a party. There is a reason that these
people are charging more and more. 1 the dj's are charging more and more for
a performance. Some charge up to 5000 for a show. you are also ignorant to
think that these promoters aren't doing this to make money this is America.
If you really did the research you would probably find that many times you
are paying 25 and 30 a head the promoter is still breaking even or sometimes
loosing money. These big parties are only going to get more expensive. You
should be thanking someone like lonnie for throwing such good parties. At
least there is someone out there putting there ass on the line for us and
throwing great parties. Then you all sit here and bad mouth him for it..
If you don't like it then get off your ass and try to throw a party for 5
bucks and see how muck money you lose, or don't go. but don't sit here and
complain about a great party becaus e your cheap ass had to pay 25-30 bucks
to see world wide dj talent you wouldn't have been able to see without
loonie or Scott henry and others like them. Shame on you.

not all of us are saying that the promoters are greedy. but, it dosen't
make us wrong or bad to say that we think the party is too much. if you
wanna pay that much money to go to the party then go for it. but, there is
absoultly nothing wrong with someone if they don't wanna spend $40 or $50 to
go to a party.

nope i'm sorry pshin your wrong. if he wanted to keep the cost down he could
just pull a few dj's, or maybe add a few less well knowns(this would also help
the scene grow). it's called greed my friend and your falling for it. besides
maybe it's time we get back to the small party format. if 40$ bucks and a bunch
of drunks is what i have to look forward to at larger parties i think this will
be the last one i go to.

Maybe I am wrong maybe I am right who knows but There are many chance for
one to see smaller dj or waht ever you say because we are in the D.C.
baltimore are there are 5-6 clubs a night where you can see smaller dj's.
you can go to Buzz or Fever and see great talent for less money. Some
people like going to a huge big party with talent from all over the world.
To some people that is fun. Me personally I don't go to the big ones but I
don't sit here and down a guy for doing things that people really dig. why
would you say maybe only bring a few big name dj's to some that is the whole
point of a big party is to see a wide variety of HUGE talent that they might
not be able to see. I remember the Bassrush parties back int the day.
Great parties with everyone from europe cali east and west . Thooughs were
some of the best parties I have ever been to and yes I think they were 25-30
bucks alot for back then but to experience that again I would pay muck more.
I am just saying that how can you be so pompist to say "you are a bad man
because you want to make money off of me.......you are mean to want to make
a living...." Anyway just don;t go if you don't want to pay that much. I'm
not but I will say thank you to lonnie for putting on some of the best evnt
I have ever been to. Or Ramond from Fusion for the Bassrush's. Anyway just
og out and have fun that is what it is all about and if you have a good time
don't bitch about the price if you don;t then son't go back. I think in
1999 they only threw 3 parties , guess they wanted them to be big. Preston

hey when your thankin lonnie an kissin his ask , thank him for running out of
water at his last 2(30/35$ consecutivly) events. i'm not sayin he doesn't throw
phat parties but i am sayin the prices are getting out of hand. Personally i do
what i do to try an make the scene stronger, i could care less about how much
money i'm makin. there are more important things than a phat bankroll

That sucks that he ran out of water someone needs to plan better. I am not
kissing any ask, I am just defending all promoters. they are not here for a
public service. i agree that there is more to life than making money, but
like i said I am sure there is alot that goes into throwing a party and I am
also sure that there is alot of risk of loosing ones money in throwing a
party. I am also sure that promter like lonnie have lost there ass on a few
parties. 30 dollars is not alot of money to pay for a great time. And just
like the promoter you are taking the risk of not having a good time but at
least you are only forking over 30 dollars of your money. Obviously this
issue is like politics we will never agree.

Greed? On whose part? the promotors or the DJs? Its not Lonnie's fault if Darren
Emerson or whoever is demanding assloads of money for a 1 1/2 hour set. You have
to compensate for that.

You have to rent venues. Ya know, getting the Armory isn't exactly like renting
out the dining hall at the Motel 6. So the money has to go into that also. You
gotta make it a visual experience as well. Lights and Laser...hmm...they cost
money, as well as the people who have to run them.

What people fail to realize is that this is a MASSIVE. It's not Friday nights at
Plush. There are gonna be LOTS of people there. And it is going to be EXPENSIVE.
Sorry, but you pay top dollar for top talent. If you want local talent, there are
tons of local parties in the area...and the scene does grow because of them. These
are two different things. Sometimes people want to see big name talent, and thats
what events like this are for.

I want to see Andy C....very badly...I will pay $40 to see Andy C

But please don't accuse that the reason this is priced as such is out of
greed...that is being totally unfair to promotors that have already given so much
to the scene. And providing people a chance to see talent that they wouldn't have
a chance to see otherwise.

Shit happens...unexpectedly..there is nothing you can really do to prevent that,
'cept plan ahead. The world won't end b/c there isn't any water. A phat party is
a phat party, regardless

> i'm not sayin he doesn't throw

Big names cost money. Am I repeating myself?

> Personally i do

what crew are you with? maybe other people should try being the judge of what you
are doing for the scene. Being a promotor you must know that you wouldn't purposly
put yourself X amount of dollars in the hole, just for the sake of throwing a phat
party. I mean most promotors do want to throw ANOTHER party again sometimes...and
that's kinda hard to do when your living out of a cardboard box.

If you havent, you guys should read the info about the Ticket prices on
www.ultraworld.net it explains why the ticket prices are slightly higher and to
me it seems they are hardly making a commision. those DJs arnt cheap and im
sure their fees go up every year. im sure many promoters would love to throw
cheap parties with kick ass talent but talents expensive. i personally have
never attened a ultraworld event but have been wanting to since energize and
since then i have heard nothing but amazing things about Ultraworld parties at
the armory and Starscape, but if you still feel that this party isa ripoff then
dont go i personally know im gonna get my moneys worth with Adam Freeland and
Darren Emerson and the rest of the Main room. hope to see you guys there

I have no idea but that's slightly bizarre. *shrug* I know that BT's a huge
Southpark fan though so it could be true, lol. The bassist/singer was ok, it
was just the other one that had to be drowned out by the synths so you didn't
