Ramblin' About Alt.Rap And How To Improve It

I find it interesting how different RMHH is now from alt.rap, and how the
two NGs have gone in two completely different directions. Practically
everyone in alt.rap now lays down rhymes, except a few lurkers and Truplaya,
and in RMHH it's all about whether Canibus should get signed or the
whereabouts of a rare BDP vs Kenny G remix or some shit. IMO, the reasons
stated on RMHH.com for the breakaway from alt.rap are utterly pathetic -
they didn't like the NAME of the newsgroup?? They thought people might get
the wrong impression from a "alt." start? They thought if they wanted to be
treated as a proper musical scene all they had to do was have "rec." in the
title? Get a life. However, it's probably for the best that discussion of
hip hop is kept separate from cats rhyming or producing mp3s. Besides,
that's what every site on the net does.
However, alt.rap can, and needs to, be improved. I racked my brain and came
up with some shit.
THE WEBSITE is, so far, not linked enough with the newsgroup. The only real
solid connection it has a link to a Usenet viewing page. Reading the
newsgroup's fine, but heads may, and will, want to post. Therefore, I
recommend Suspect changes the link to
http://news.interbulletin.com/cgi-bin/ibreadgrp?group=alt.rap , a better
looking, more organised site which also has posting capabilities. I also
suggest the addition of a page detailing the various outlets of alt.rap (how
to use Google archives etc), and also clear instructions on how to use
alt.rap through Microsoft Outlook, which is by far the easiest and best way
and a method which I am sure a lot of cats can use. The difficult access to
alt.rap is a major drawback, and one which prevents it getting as much
traffic as other WWW sites such as undergroundhiphop.com. (However, somehow
it has managed to bring together the illest on the internet and keep them
here)
How about a NG archive section on the site, containing the best rhymes and
battles ever posted (that crazy collab Redeem organised where everyone
fought Hate, Jealousy etc, Triumph 2, House Of Lords for starters) and a
full archive of the KOTNGs and any other tournaments which have occurred,
such as the NYT. That way, we can easily demonstrate that we're the illest
place on the net to anybody who's checkin' out alt.rap for the first time.
An mp3 section would be dope, containing all the shit cats in here have
recorded, from A to the L to Pizon to Timid.
Posters' profiles section? RMHH.com's is wack as fuck(AL, you look like a
Marine), so I have my doubts about this. If it was well done, then it might
be aight.
Get your asses writing articles, features and reviews for the site. I got
reviews and a couple of articles on the way, and I know Vadik and Truplaya

willing to organise 'em if I get everyone's approval. Also, with this
current Open Season lyrical warfare, it should be easy to calculate.
Crit everything. I try to, even if it's just a quick "That was ill" or
something. If cats are posting rhymes and not getting feedback, they gonna
stop posting rhymes!! Ssjba stopped for that very reason. It don't take
long to write a sentence, which is a good enough crit. If you break down
the rhyme, analyse all the hot lines etc then that's dope as fuck, but a
sentence is all that's needed.
Crosspost anything you're posting to RMHH with alt.rap and vice versa(except
don't post text rhymes to RMHH, I don't think they like that shit). We
ain't exactly bulging with discussion posts, and it gives you more feedback
on your post anyway.
Write more rhymes!!! I know I hardly ever drop shit, due to my busy life,
but I try to find time to bust a short freestyle every day. Usually it's in
the car or something, so I can't remember it to post it to alt.rap, but it
helps with my written shit. If you're ever at home, busting a freestyle,
try and remember it when you finish it and post it to alt.rap.

sure making a big deal out of it........................
All them cats who been around for a long time (Nef, Muz, Sordswinga,
Kaydadon) need to post more. We all love to hear from y'all, so post shit,
whether it be a rhyme or a discussion or whatever, we know y'all hate the
high school cats, but get over it, aight?
AIM / MSN Messenger is a dope invention, and y'all should cop it ASAP, most
def. If anyone's down for a freestyle/keystyle session on either, get at

Actually, this is a perfectly good reason. The "rec" newsgroups are
carried on more news servers, and usually ISP's will grant them longer
retention rates for messages.

Instead of the fact that I惴 not reading very long in this group, I惴 sure
that one member of alt.rap will either win or come to the final round... I
don愒 think that all the other rappers are as dope as the ones in here...
But I bet that everyone of the alt.rappers will come very far in this
battle. And I think one alt.rapper will support another alt.rapper, even if
