We had a pathologist at work years ago he was from one of those rectangular midwestern states like Kansas or something. His veterinary background was all farm stuff, cows and sheep and ranches. He always wore cowboy boots and a turquoise bolo. He was a large loud imposing man, but still had an oddly subtle femininity to him. He used to come to my office a lot to ask for medicines for his dozens of cats. He was very hard of hearing, and wore an aid. Even then, you still needed to speak very loudly with him in order to be heard, and he BOOMED when he spoke. He has since died of a massive stroke.

About 15 years ago, he was probably about 55 years old at the time, and back when being gay was still uncool and most people didn't routinely admit it (especially in the work place), and gay marriage was just a new debate, one day he came to my office for some cat medications, and began talking about gay marriage. He said he was opposed to it because blah blah blah (I can't remember exactly why) and though it seemed more like a conversation you would have quietly at work, he was talking VERY loudly, as usual. Then he says to me "You know I'm gay, right?" And when I say he "said" it, I actually mean he shouted it at me.... booming loudly.
And I responded to him, "I think all of Hungary knows you're gay now, "
