[ Sorry if this is a kinda' booty ad, but I didn't have much time to get
my shit together -- if I get creative, maybe I'll come up with something
new soon... ]
What up, what up, what up!
This is Laze from the Lyrical Prophets, and yes -- it's finally here: the
release of our fourth album, "I.D.G.A.F." ("I Don't Give A F..."). We're
real excited about this album... lots of PHAT, PHAT, PHAT shit.
30 minutes, 9 tracks, $5 + $1 shipping, chrome tapes. Hard to beat, G.
This album is a much more serious album than "Armed and Dangerous". We spent
a lot more time getting each track as funky as possible. I'll go through a
quick run-down of the tracks.
INTRO -- This track sets the tone for the whole tape: straight up serious,
no fucking around.
BUST THA SCIENTIFICAL -- Yeah, the chorus loop is from Masta Ace. I
was kicking a new lyrical style for myself here.
Lots of cool metaphors and shit to keep you
finding new shit each time you listen.
I DON'T GIVE A FUCK -- Each album I take at least one track to take out
my frustrations. On this one, the lyrical bodycount
is high -- keep in mind I don't go off saying I kill
people all the time, it's all metaphorical, G.
KEEPING IT SMOOTH -- This track's got a nice jazz flavor to it and the
sung chorus is smooth. It's a little more upbeat than
other stuff on the album, but the lyrics are still
serious.
ON THE REAL -- This one's bound to get crazy heads bobbing... this one's
a middle finga to those that dissed us in the past and
seemed to think we'd never do anything worthwhile, and
all of a sudden are jumping on the dilz. I take the last
verse to give shouts "to the real crew".
SIDESTREET SIDESHOW -- Rap is a sidestreet from the main road of music,
and on that street, we're sideshow freaks. Because
of our choice of samples, lyrics, lyrical style,
whatever; a statement of how we're different from
the rest, and we don't give a fuck.
EAST COAST STYLIN' -- This was just a quick interlude freestyle over a
real basic drum pattern. Fuck around and "you'll be
in deeper shit than David Duke at the Apollo".
THE MOOD IS IN THE MUSIC -- This is the most upbeat of all the tracks on
the album. When it comes to music -- listening
to it or making it -- my mood is reflected. I
figured I'd close the album with a somewhat
upbeat note.
ALL OF MY LOVE OUTRO -- A teacher at my school who plays music over the PA
before school each morning played one of our songs
from our last album and ripped it apart in front
of 2000+ students. I hold a grudge -- even though
I went the whole album without dissing him and I
didn't put anything in the J-Card about him, I took
this shot at him.
There's something for every hip-hop head on this album... be sure to check
it out and support the true rap underground.
"Honies play me like a lollipop and keep on lickin', / Just like mustard
you can't catch-up with the lyrics that I'm kickin'..." -- 'Bust tha
Scientifical'
Peace... Laze
