alt.rap... history??

how long has this newsgroup been around, and how did it get started? any of you
old cats been here long enough to know? peace

Its been around for like 5+ years not sure exactly, most of the old cats that
were here in the beginning are now rmhh people, the worse of the 2 hiphop
newsgroups. Ive only been here since april-may 98.

Alt.Rap is in it's tenth year, damn some of you were like 3 or 4 years old,
but the old school cats used talk about Kane, Rakim, NWA, Kid n Play, will
hip-hop make it in the 90's. How do I know about this, damn yo, I Am the
webmaster for altrap.com, i should know some hostory about alt.rap wouldnt you
say. Today you would hardly find the original alt.rap cats, as for cats that
used to post in alt.rap aka second generation alt.rappers that would some of
the rmhh, as for the third generation that would be me, sord's, verbal, H.20
and a few cats since we been postin in alt.rap since early 98. When i camed to
alt.rap was a big troll, I used post crazy ill shit, i didnt give a fuck, in
matter of fact alt.rap was almost dead. Back in the day, alt.music.gangsta.rap
was bigger than alt.rap, i know i used to post there. Making up stories and
shit, hey i was a little juvinile, also i was not into computers so i could
change my screen name, and i was to stuburn to change it, i just let it flow.
In matter of fact, i started a lyrikal battle with ********** in rmhh that got
threaded to 70 plus messages.
Then i noticed alt.rap, actually after i was lyrically embarrassed i turned to
another ng, i when felt like it was time to come true, i had to leave for basic
training, camed back still i didnt change it, but i just got tired of the fake
bullshit, so i came clean. Plus i changed so much in the last two years, i been
to the east coast to the west coast, seen it all, life at times took it toll
but we all got to fall sometime, before we bite the line and hit the floor as
our souls is gone. Also 4dg are the peeps that came to alt.rap around Nov-Dec
98, alt.rap always to tend to get new people in bundles never spread out over
time but large doces at a time.

I know it's been around for a long time now, but I consider it's rebirth
started when the 'writers' entered the fray. Which makes the 'you know who's
' the old skool. I still find this place interesting and it's an opportunity
for me to perfect a skill, like any other. I play football, half for the fun
and half to perfect my skill and fitness. I know there is no future in it,
like 'rhyming', but I still wanna be perfect in all counts possible. I've

Been here since early 98, so I guess I'm a "3rd generation" alt.rapper, but I
did make like 4 posts in like March 97 under a different online service when I
first used the internet... it was a few posts about mariah carrey or something
like that.

The net was just newsgroup and BBS :oP As these were simple ASCII forms
of interacting, as images n other binary shit didn't work. Everything
was text, thats where my arty type shit below descended from. So sus
could well be right.

I was under the impression that the internet was used during the end of
WWII. They used it to pass messages, but due to the 'unknown' technology and
huge database needed, it wasn't widely available.

Nawh it was used as a military network, but this was in 70's. In WWII it
weren't around.

Yeah, you're right, the Internet came about around the early 50's as a way to
keep everything in order in case the Russians hit us with a nuclear attack...
but only top scientists and military officials had access to it. But the World
Wide Web didn't come out until 1990... which is a lot different from what was
around in the 50's.

Seriously? I was reading about it, and it said the WWW (as in the first

I just *vaguely* knew what the internet was in 5th grade, then I had an *idea*
of what it was in 7th, and didn't use it til I was 9th grade.
