be reading past articles on the Dave Samuels article, and the
responses that have been posted. I'd like to take a moment to
say that a lot of you who are saying white people don't get it.....
you guys don't get it. This bullshit about white people "cartoon-
izing" the black fashion mode really pissed me off. A lot of the
clothing fads that black youths from the inner city are just
cartoons in and of themselves. The big clocks, the dangling price-
tags, Raiders trenches, ski hats, and the rest of that shit just
perpetuates urban stereotypes, as these fashions are merely blown-
up caricatures of the so-called "urban experience". I say so-called
because there seems to be this attitude that only black people can
truly understand what its like to grow up in the oppressive
surroundings of the inner city. Bullshit. Its not a black thing.
Its not a white thing. Its just a ghetto thing. No matter what
your color, religion, height, sex or any other meaningless
physical attribute, if you grow up on the streets, you're going
to act it. And if you're a rich white kid who happens to think
the ghetto styles are funky and they want to dress like that, fine.
There's no rule that says you can only dress a certain way depend-
ing on your background. And what cause would they be trivializing
by borrowing clothing styles?
As for this negative attitude towards people with a family life
(I refer to the comment I believe was made by DCal about Mom &
Pops making everything right), its bullshit. If you have a family
that loves you, and you love your family, you're going to stick
together. That's what family is all about. And if you have no
family, don't take it out on those of us who do.
So fuck you racist black people who hate whites, and fuck you
racist white people who hate blacks. It's time you all opened
your eyes and saw something: It's not about black or white. It's
about the human beings. Like Ice-T said, "There's only one race,
and that's the human race." When we begin to understand this,
then all this superficial bullshit debating will stop and we can
live in peace.
