and what were you doing ..when you heard he had died?

I was in Atlanta...working and got a call from a friend in Canada who was
working on a movie with Jada Pinkett...She had hear from Jada that Pac had been
shot and wasn't expected to live. Jada, she said had left the set to go be
with friends.. I didn't believe it cuz' I didn't hear it on the radio or TV for
awhile. Then I called LA (which is home for me) and checked around with
friends....and while talking ..it came on the TV...damn. Damn!
I thought ..he's been shot before...it can't be so serious they got him to the
hospital fast....but I was on the street in downtown ATL, when I heard he was
dead..working..it was alllll over the radio there, they played his songs all
day. I didn't even know his mom was living in ATL at the time. Rappers got on
the radio and begged for peace, folks called in crying...I will never forget
it..

I was at work. Someone told me the news and immediately I broke down
and caused a big scene. I was laying on the floor, all crying and
hyperventilating and shit. They were going to call the ambulance for
me, being as how I was having trouble breathing and all. But eventually
I found the strength to gasp for air, but I was still all purple and
shit in the face. So I sat in the break room for about 2-3 hours,
straight breaking down and crying and shit. Everytime I thought of his
face, his words, his music, i'd just cry more... they had to call my
dad to come pick me up because i was in NO shape to drive whatsoever.
When I got home, i cried myself to sleep. When I awoke, I was still
crying. My pillow was like a wet sponge and i thought my waterbed had
burst or something. But i guess 11 hours of crying will do that. For 2
months after I just sat at home like a vegetable... every once in
awhile, friends would bring me food and drink over, but I couldn't
friggin' eat. I lost about 50 pounds during the two months, and
somewhere around the end of the two months, i had dehydrated, and they
thought I was gonna die... i didn't care. I had nothing to live for
anyway after Pac was gone. So I went into counseling after that
incident, but they threw me out after i kept threatening to 'Hit 'Em
Up' with various weapons... they didn't understand me, they didn't
understand Pac... Later on that year, as I was getting my 'Thug Life'
tattoo on my stomach, I was crying the whole time. Not because of the
pain, mind you, but because I felt as though i was committing some type
of sacrilege by mimicing Him... but I just had to let the world know
where I stood, who I believed in, just what I was about. Here I am
today, pondering the idea of taking down all the 2Pac posters, pin-ups,
concert stubs, and other assorted memorabilia off my wall. I think it's
time for me to get on with my life, but I don't know if I'll ever have
a life again. Everytime I go to the mall, I see the newly released 2Pac
and the Outlaws CD, and I'm trying so hard to not get it, because if I
do, I'm so scared that this process will start all over again... but in
a way, I just have to hear it, and I feel my life is incomplete without
it... but wait, i have no life left. This is evident from the way I
walked around like a fucking zombie for the last few years. Just going
through the motions of daily life while my thinking mind was totally
raped by the tragedy.

Goddammit people... let him rest.

I remember it was a Friday after school, and like most Fridays after school, me
and my friends would go to the mall not too far from the school. I was at the
Westside Pavillion shopping center, in the Electronics Boutique shop. I was
just browsing around, looking for a game to get, and I heard the employee
talking to his friend on the phone... I didn't think anything at first, but he
sounded like he was in disbelief about something, and he was like "no shit?!?!
wait... you're lying?!?! he's dead?!?! daaaamn!!! that's some fucked up shit
right there..." I knew 2Pac had been shot about 7 days before and was in the
hospital, so that was the only person that came to mind. But I was hoping that
it wasn't him. When I turned on the radio on the way home, they were talking
about Tupac's death.
