i just heard it on the news.

people have been engaging in some stupid-assed speculations about whether
the whole thing was a publicity stunt...i'm not even going to waste time
talking about that. others have been debating how eazy-e got the virus in
the first place. as far as i'm concerned, when you've got the virus, it
doesn't really matter to them how they got it. however, to the rest of us
the important thing to remember is that there are risk factors associated
with catching aids and we may or may not know how eazy got it because he
may or may not have used drugs and he may or may not have engaged in homosexual
activities. but what the rest of us can best learn is to be aware of the
risk factors and, in spite of what they say on the rap records about using
drugs and knockin' boots, be aware and take as many precautions as possible
to *reduce* the risk that the same will happen to you. like i've said earlier,
i think that some of the brothers on this newsgroup have said some really
relevant shit on this matter and i can't understand why there were calls from
others to stop talking about the eazy-e situation, because if there was ever
anything talked about here that was real, it's the aids situation. it's a lot
more real than the shit you hear on the rap records in which guy go around
declaring themselves to be "o.g.'s" for having pulled 187's - if they were
really catching bodies the way they say they are they'd be in fucking jail.

so let's learn something from the eazy-e situation and keep reminding one
another from time to time that this aids is not some play thing, the shit
is real and you better not fuck around about it.

Yes, just found out myself. It makes me sad to think that a member of the
hip-hop nation as important as he was (maybe he was a shitty rapper, but he
and Russell Simmons are probably the model hip-hop entrepreneurs) is gone
from something so awful. Eazy-Duz-It was one of the first hip-hop records I
bought, and as funny as I found it when I was 14, I find it sobering now at
21.

That's the lifestyle that will get us all killed. Hopefully, we can learn
from Eazy's death and save each other from AIDS - learn again that its not a
gay or straight thing, a black or white thing, but a disease that can hit
ANY of us. That fine-looking girl with "the big butt and a smile" might be
the one carrying the virus. Never leave the party without the jimmy hats.

Sorry if I'm preachin', but it's 4:30 AM here and I still can't believe it.

Easy has passed. And so I mourn. However, let this not be taken as a
loss, but as a lesson of the seriousness of AIDS et al. Majic
contraction of the virus did indeed send shock waves through our
community. However, he was a superstar, who seemed out of touch, more of
a larger than life. Easy was "closer to home" and we should really take
heed to the message that he is giving us.

I think you listed some very important facts. AIDS is not prejudice, it
will take who ever is willing to fall victim. It is up to use to become
educated and aware of this deadly disease. If not for your own safety
and those around you please, brothers and sisters get tested. Why wait
and find out like Eric, when its to late.
Peace.

: Noone deserves to die in immense pain and suffering. And the fact that
: he got it through unprotected sex is no reason for anyone to get up on
: some moral soapbox and preach about what he "should have" done.
:
: The reason why people are 'tripping over this shit' is because i think alot
: of men as well as women who wouldn't have thought Easy-E to be the Type to
: come down with AIDS are now thinking about some "Hoes" from their past.
: It becomes more real when it happens to someone that you identify with.

Most people didn't know that shit five years ago (the time Easy E
received infection HIV infection). I would recommend the movie
"And the Band Played On". Watch it and honestly tell me someone deserves
to die because of ignorance. If ignorance is the cause of death, what are
the "educators" up to then?

I agree. This is some movie. It's a made-for-HBO flick, but it is definitely worth
checking out. I can honestly say that after watching it, I was awaken to the seriousness of this disease.

Open your eyes, ears and MIND!
