My girlfriend, heard from a freind that during a recent MTV interview,
that one of the Fugees said that they didn't want white people listening
to their music, and the other 2 members agreed. Anybody else see that
interview, or care to shed some light as to what was said? The only
reason their album was/is so damn hot is because SO many white people
bought that sh*t, so it would be STUPID for them to be anti-white,
assuming that they're in this for the money. Thanks in advance, y'all!

a good friend of mine, who is a reliable source, said he saw that
interview as well, or heard an excerpt from it in which lauryn hill was
quoted as saying this:
"I would rather one million black babies starve than one white man listen
to our music"
now that, my friends, is as racist as they come.....disgusting...

If they didn't want white people listening to their music I wonder why
they allowed themselves to be photographed for the cover of Rolling
Stone. Sounds a little hypocritical to me. If you don't want white
listeners don't allow yourselves to be marketed in that direction.

man, rumors are so dumb
none of this was ever said, mtv news ran a story debunking it.
just jealous kids trying to bring a talented group down.

Yeah, and Snapple is owned by the KKK. Why, haven't you noticed
the circle K on the label? :-)

Don't be so gullible.

You are so right. If they don't like white people, then why do they
perform for MTV on video and movie award shows, and why would they
change their style from a harder-core reggae style to a smoother style
with more appeal?? Why don't they sticker their album with "BLACKS
ONLY"? As far as I am concerned, they don't have to like me, but I
like their music, so therefore, I will buy it, listen to it, and love
it, just because I can.

I didn't see that shit! That puts me in the same box as this fool who heard from somebody who heard from somebody else... I'll say t=
his though: I think the most sensible probability is that they said they wouldn't change their styles to accomodate a crossover (mos=
tly white audience)

That's true. My friend who doesn't know much about hip hop told me that
same story. I didn't believe him at first. Fuckin' bitch! I bought
the album too. What the fuck is she sayin that for? So many white
folks bought the album. She must be really stupid!

Check the vibe clyde: Listen just because the good white folks buy a few
albums don't mean that the Fugees have all of a sudden got to fall in love
with them, after all they did stave like marve to get a record deal and
used there own money besides the fact that they must survive as Black men
and women before the fame and after the fame ( a difficult situation that
caucasoids enhance everyday). H ere today tomomorrow a slave is the
policy that the record community uses at all times especially the rap
field. So if they like white folks, that's there business, and if they
don't that's all the better. Just because you buy a biscuit from my plate
don't mean I'm gonna kiss your ass.
