C. DOLORES TUCKER SUES OVER TUPAC SHAKUR LYRICS
Conservative political activist C. Delores Tucker, known for waging
wars against explicit rap lyrics, and her husband William Tucker have
filed a civil action lawsuit against the estate of the late rapper Tupac
Shakur, his mother, and 15 other entities, for slander, invasion of
privacy, preliminary injunction, and intentional infliction of emotional
distress. They are seeking $10 million and to stop the distribution of
Shakur's All Eyez On Me.
Also named in the suit are Death Row, Time Warner, Interscope, MCA,
Priority Records, Interscope founders Ted Field and Jimmy Iovine, Death
Row attorney David Kenner, co-administer of the estate of Shakur
attorney Richard Fischbein, Thorn EMI, EMI Music, Seagram Co, and MTS,
Inc, which owns the Tower Records chain. The suit was filed Friday (Oct.
4) in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The Tuckers are trying to ban All Eyez On Me because it contains two
songs -- "How Do You Want It?" and "Wonda Why They Call B" -- which
feature lyrics about C. Delores Tucker. "How Do You Want It?" contains
the lyrics "C. Delores Tucker you're a mother fucker/ Instead of trying
to help a brother you destroy a nigga," while "Wonda Why They Call B"
contains the lyrics "Got your legs up trying to get rich/ Keep your head
up and your legs closed dear Ms. Delores Tucker." Tucker claimed that
these lyrics ruined her sex life with her husband, and she filed a
lawsuit over them in July.
There are a multitude of other reasons cited in the lawsuit for which
the Tuckers are suing. For one, they claim the lawsuit that Interscope
filed against Mrs. Tucker for "inter alia," with inducement to breach
the contract between Death Row and Interscope, caused her severe
emotional distress. They also claim that she has "reasonable fear for
her life because violence and death play a central role in the gangsta
rap arena" and that she has already received death threats.
Comments that defendant Fischbein made to the press regarding Tucker's
lack- of- sex lawsuit are also cited as examples of slander in this
suit.

I think those lyrics were misquoted...

this is totally taken out of context if this is true. at the end of
the song he talks to delores tucker telling her why he calls some
women bitches. the song is about this bitch that basically whored
herself out and got aids. it's not even about delores tucker. the
thing that trips me out about delores tucker is that she's essentially
trying to put a ban on something she doesn't understand. her lawsuit
proves this.

She's waged an all out war on Hip Hop, I believe she was intrumental in getting
Interscope/Deathrow sold from their parent company, and she's mentioned Tupac
and his lyrics/experiences specifically in her speeches.
That's why I think her lawsuit is weak. Has she ever heard of slander? I
remember her and Rev. Calvin Butts destroying Deathrow's tapes. In other
words, they have a right to dis her if she has actively and openly done
the same to them. The problem is that she wants to use Deathrow as an
excuse....when she has never liked them.
They can't help her if her sex life is going to hell.
Plus, like I have been telling brothers....when a sister has hatred for
brothers....she will be disrespected by many brothers...her husband
included!
I think she gets what she deserves....and yes she was influential in
getting Time Warner's Interscope label to stop publishing Deathrow
Records. NOw they're back with their original label....Priority.
