Rail, "high speed" or not, has its positives and negatives.

No, you do not want to ride a "high-speed" produced/managed
by incompetents. Better an old time slow and steady.

The biggest problem with rail though it it's point-2-point nature.
What do you do when you get to your destination ? How do you
get from the station to wherever your real destination may be ?
Taxis only take you so far, and a rental car adds considerable
expense. Sometimes it is just better to have driven your own
vehicle.

The apparent positive is economy, not just in your cash but
environmentally as well. Rail is a very efficient way to move
people and cargo over long distances. Partially diluting this
is the expense in building and maintaining the rails. This
requires a lot of work and energy and slacking off often has
horrific consequences.

Back in the 70's I visited DC to visit some people and take
in the sights. The Metro was shiny new back then, the
cat's meow, clean and well-oiled and they even had
cards you could put mile credits on, which was really cool
at the time. A modern service for a modern top-level
American city and safe to ride. TODAY however ........
they didn't quite keep up with the maintenence and
security, did they ?

So you reply to an old post with an outdated article?

At least try to get something more current, like one of these:

"China-Europe freight trains reaching 10,180 by November, benefiting
both economies" (as stated in the article the 10,180 are trains in 2020):
https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1209213.shtml

"Global Supply Chain News: Volumes for China to Europe Cargo Trains
Continue to See Raid Growth":
