Can anyone tell me what 455.1375 MHz is used for in the UK, and where
it is used? It sounds like short telephone calls.
Cheers,
Bob

Thanks for your answer. I'm pretty sure 455.1375 MHz is (very close
to) the right frequency. And I'm sure it isn't 6.25 kHz higher or
lower. I had a look at the signal on my SR2000. I also had a look at
the FM center indicators of my R8500.
At the web I only found Humberside SKY O. B. for this frequency. I
don't know what O.B. is.
It sound like short telephone calls. Most people talk English.
Sometimes German and Dutch calls can be heard. Maybe it is a hotel or
congress center at a harbour or airport. They talk about the reception
desk, the admin office, room Europe 1, Pacific.
Cheers,
Bob

ob is outside broadcast but some events activity can be placed on the same
freqs and have 6.25 offsets if 12.5 khx then we dont allocate those freqs in
that band that spot freq dos not exist

What makes you think it's in the UK?
I tend to agree with PromaBoss that if other languages are
heard, and as these transmissions all seem to be telephone type
of conversation, then they are most likely to be local to you.
I expect that no such frequency allocation for cordless phones
is applicable to The Netherlands, and therefore two possibilities
as to why you hear the transmissions are viable.
1 Use on equipment not permitted in your country.
2 The product of frequencies mixing.
>What makes you think it's in the UK?
Because it is a weak signal and most of the people are talking
English.
>and as these transmissions all seem to be telephone type

It sounds a bit like short telephone calls but I think they aren't
telephone calls. Maybe MPT1327?
Maybe an example of a call helps:

Probably they are not close to each other because they end with "see
you tomorrow".
This evening a guy asked a girl whether she went to the beach party.
Another indication that the signal comes from a coast.
Cheers,
Bob

ok I'll throw my 2c in:
1) a film crew talking on location with hand held radios.
2) drug dealers
3) hotel secuirty
ps: thanks for the recording sample, it helps a lot.
Steve Terry
Certainly a possibility, but there is a reference to walking back to an
hotel. Both accents sounds American and the radio traffic sounds like it may
be a trunked system of some sort.
Jeff
My guess is it's the output of one, input probably 5.5 or 6.5 MHz up?
Steve Terry
If the conditions are good enough, these signals can be heard over
hundreds, or even thousands of kilometers. I agree wit Bob that
these signals have to be from outside Holland, we don't have
MPT1327 in Holland on these frequencies. And IF we had,
the base frequency would definitely not be on 455 MHz.

1. These aren't cordless phones, you can hear MPT1327 trunking data
2. It is not just the use of "equipment", it is a network, or at least a base station
3. Knowing Bob, he knows when frequencies are "mixing"
4. Even if frequencies WERE mixing, this type of communication is not typical Dutch
Bye, Peter - Holland
also again it would be 6.25 khz lower
though of course ofcom could allocate someone on the 12.5 khz but thats
unusual on that band for that type of usage

I think you will find the transmitter for this activity at Lange Voorhout
102 in The Hague.
Go to the Smidsplein, stand in front of the French Embassy, with your back
to the Embassy, and look at the building across the street.
what would be really great is the exact co-ordinates of this location on google earth, and
a little blue balloon there with a picture of the 'building across the street'.
