Not seen any evidence of this. Plenty of planning applications as in most
counties - and a number of fiercely contested ones - but no actual Airwave
hardware unless you count the handsets shown to the Police Authority at the
last meeting.

I`ve seen the hardware going in at Gatwick, and the guys at Lewes tell me
its going ahead.

Hi Dave

Not disputing that it's going ahead just surprised that you've seen hardware.
Can you be more specific? I know they've been working to upgrade the Southern,
Northern and Gatwick resourcing rooms for Airwave for some time but understand
that Brighton & Hove is to be the first live division and they haven't got any
base stations there yet and the first full-time use in a given area takes place
about 6 months after the base station is built and fired up although there are
trials and exercises before that.

Are you in the Gatwick/Crawley area? If so, I'd like to ask you a couple of
things about the current set up thereabouts. Drop me a mail omitting the
obvious.

Cheers

a freind of mine is a controller M2VB Cambridgeshire who have just switched
over, when they switched over the police air support unit has been heard on
ASU VHF 138.10625 FM first time for this force.

my friend informs me that any callout of the ASU and Airwave will be realyed
through the bar connect on 138.10625,so any good chase or incidents/major
events we will still all hear.

the reason being,it will cost £100000 to install Airwave in the chopper,so
lack of money to finish the job off,and also next year they will be getting
a new chopper, but no guarantee even that will be Airwave fitted.

so anyone for miles around cambridgeshire keep that 138.10625 as when up on
an icident it will kindly relay Airwave for everyone to hear.
