Hi,
>Anyone have a CommTel-225 GRE Scanner .. Are they Good . Give Your Input.
There is a review on Rich Wells web site:

Not in the UK that I'm aware of - you might find some with the European
dealers perhaps.

Hi Larry, I bought a 225 scanner early in December, I paid ukp175 new
from Marshions in Ipswich and have been reasonably happy with it.
For its price it suits me and I can get all the frequencies I need.
However I have discovered a few glitches with mine.
Firstly it is a bit complex and I find the manual confusing.
I have also found that the frequency spacing on some bands are
too wide. It is possible to program an exact frequency if known
but, for example on 70cms Amateur Band the steps are far to wide.
I have also had problems with the direct tuning dial, it jumps all over
the place when trying to fine tune frequencies.
I did speak to the suppliers by phone about this and they were very
helpful. Next time I am their way I will take it with me.
Regards Graham.

The UBC-9000 receives 25-550Mhz and 760-1300Mhz with 500 memory channels
whilst the COM225 receives 25-1300MHz and has 1000 channels.
Both have programmable modes of AM/NFM and WFM but the COM225 does not
have programmable step sizes which can, in some circumstances be a
frustration.
The UBC-9000XLT is a Uniden product whilst the COM225 comes from the GRE
stable - hope of many Tandy sets such as the PRO-2005/6, 2045/2042
